- Helsinki Museum - The design is deeply inspired by the tradition of using public space as an incubator of ideas and a gathering space for society at large. @FelipeeEscudero’s houses look as if they landed rather than rose from the ground. Working between Quito and Madrid, the Ecuadorian-Brazilian architect is known for his “Poetic Modernism”, where rigorous forms meet nature, memory and tactile materials. After studying at Georgia Tech and the Architectural Association and working at MAD Architects and Heatherwick Studio, he returned to the Andes, drawing on volcanic stone, shifting light and Ecuadorian and Brazilian traditions. In our conversation, Escudero reflects on designing with nature, the power of locality, and an architecture that invites us to feel more deeply alive. - Museo: Hotel and Residences - Our latest mixed-use project has received its first building permit approval. Museo: Hotel and Residences is designed as a dialogue between nature and contemporary life uniting cultural, social, and private spaces into a single landmark. The project includes event spaces, hotel, business center, restaurants, gallery, spa and private residences along the valley of Checa, showcasing the surrounding natural environment as the main focus for a sustainable development. The architecture is defined by a timeless aesthetic, rooted in the belief that design must enhance human well-being and expand the mind, fusing nature, technology, and space into a seamless cinematic experience. by @felipeeescudero
Foresta, a Quito restaurant by Felipe Escudero, strikingly fuses architecture and gastronomy. The 3,200-square-foot, 60-seat eatery extends Ecuadorian chef Rodrigo Pacheco’s mission to merge fine dining with biodiversity, reflecting his work with the Bocavaldivia Foundation and the Largest Biodiverse Edible Forest (foresta is Spanish for forest). Escudero achieves this by balancing raw materials with high-tech refinement. Concrete and steel contrast with the organic texture of the Tungurahua volcanic stone used for the tops of the organically shaped, uplit kitchen islands, where chefs cook directly on its surface—paying homage to ancient Andean techniques and turning meals into a kind of performance art.
