I made it to 45. I am 45 today. I’ve reflected on my life and just how lucky and thankful I am to be here. I thought the big C was going to be an end but really it was the beginning of a new life. At the same time, I am thankful for all the stages. One constant in my life is music. It has always meant so much to be and has colored my life in a way that I will never be able to put into words. I have met people worldwide and have kept friendships with them (you if you’re reading this) for 18+ years and I’m so thankful. If I’ve ever been to a concert with you, shared my love of music with you, danced with you, karaoke’d with you, I love you. Here is just a few of my music memories. If you get to the last photo…I did it for her. Happy 45th to her. by @feliw

There are almost no words to describe seeing Rosalía. It was the best concert I have ever been to…ever. I almost hate to call it a concert because it was more like a performance art piece. The stage in a shape of the cross, the full orchestra, a female conductor, her blessing us with her own Botafumeiro (in Spain it’s used to bless travelers of the Camino de Santiago which she has walked). Everything had meaning. The different Acts, genres, dance…it was just beautiful. I laughed, cried, danced, sang the lyrics at the top of my lungs and so did everyone around me (you can hear the guy next to me in a few of my videos-he knew every word). Was extra special to share it with Nina. Our quick girls trip was full of laughs, music, World Cup talk, an In n Out stop, getting upgraded to a Jeep for no extra cost after our initial rental car had the check engine light come on, and a quick detour to the Hoover Dam. It was perfect. This Motomami is very happy. taken in T-Mobile Arena by @feliw

Top 3 concerts I’ve ever seen. Florence. She was magic, regal, feral, witchy, shy, powerful…just magnetic. It’s wonderful to see where she is from her debut tour to now. She hates cameras and I felt like I was breaking the law taking the few videos I did but…I had to. 4 out of 21 isn’t bad. 😂 Also the Witch Choir dancers were so theatrical and wonderful to watch. The San Francisco crowd was so warm and friendly and the security guards were chill. It was a vibe. I’m still processing it but…wow. 🪄❤️‍🔥🔮 by @feliw

16 years ago. 16 years ago I saw Florence and the Machine on her first tour at the Wiltern in Los Angeles. Me and my friend Jean waited in line and got close. It was a magical night and Florence’s music has carried me through so much for the past 16 years. Music is so powerful. I am always so thankful to Liz too for introducing her to me then. What a time. These were my grainy photos from that night. Phone cameras weren’t what they are now. Ha! Anyway, tonight I am back in California (San Francisco), seeing her for the first time in 16 years. One of my favorite artists, in one of my favorite cities and my favorite state. by @feliw

My feed is so sad and I have had so many things to share. Things I want to put out there. Not just the sad. So I will start with 2022. The year of cancer. I was going through treatment but I also made time for fun. I spent Christmas and New Years, as is my habit most of the time, in Los Angeles with family. Jean was in town too so I got to see her and I was so thankful for that. I always look at that photo and can’t believe I had a silent killer in me. Then spent time with my bro and sister in law in Simi Valley and we went up to Santa Barbara. Art at LACMA! Then back home I was diagnosed and started treatment. Cut off my own hair because I wasn’t going to go through seeing my hair fall out. Got it over with and put on my lilac wig and turban! After chemo, I went to Taos to see My Morning Jacket with Nina. Hollyhock walks with her. Aspen Vista walks in Santa Fe. Went to Red Rocks in Denver to see Marc Rebillet with Nina between surgery and radiation. That was the first time I was comfortable not wearing a wig with my little baby hairs growing in. I hate the photos but I need to honor where I was at that point in life. Life sucks and is scary sometimes but we must keep it moving and find moments of joy. I also want to say I am so thankful for all the calls, texts, support, care packages. I love you all and it got me through. 🦋💞🦄 by @feliw

One year. One year ago today my cancer fight started with my first chemo treatment. There were no promises that it would work and I was terrified. It was a “pretty nasty cancer” as my doctor would say…but I got through it and it was successful. But what no one told me and something I wasn’t prepared for is that the after is so much harder than the fight itself. Living in a body that feels strange and you don’t recognize as your own is so mentally and physically difficult. Dealing with the side affects of a medication that will continue to hopefully keep you alive is brutal. And it’s an arduous climb back to health. But even with all that I am happy and so glad and lucky to still be here. And right now I’m in Italy. A lifelong dream with longtime friends. I have dreamed of seeing the Birth of Venus since I was young and it happened. It is surreal and overwhelming. So even with all the bad, life is still good. Halfway through chemo and celebrating it. Little victories. Have never known this level of exhaustion before but I am making progress. My surgery is scheduled for September 8th and then I go into six weeks of daily radiation after that. It seems daunting but I am just taking it one day at a time. My doctors, despite having a rare and aggressive cancer, are optimistic about my outcome and that really gets me through. My surgeon told me, “ we are going to take care of this and make sure you have a long and healthy life.” Cue me crying. One upside to losing your hair: knowing what a nice breeze feels like on a bald head. It’s glorious. by @feliw
