Summer tailoring doesn’t need bold colours.
Texture does the work.

A lightweight textured suit, linen shirt, suede loafers and just enough contrast to let each piece breathe.

When the temperature climbs, simplicity becomes the luxury.

Good style rarely comes from adding more.

Some well-cut trousers.
A knitted polo.
A pair of woven loafers.
An afternoon that stretches into the evening.

The details do the work.

British tailoring, adjusted for a Los Angeles September.

Outfit of the Day.

A tonal brown Prince of Wales check keeps the classic structure of the pattern, but feels considerably softer and less corporate than traditional grey.

Paired with linen trousers and a linen pocket square for an L.A. September still pushing 90°F. And yes, the pocket square is wrinkled. It’s linen. It’s supposed to be.

1 - The New Perspective

A suit doesn’t automatically mean business.
Change what you wear underneath it, lose the tie, relax the shoes, and suddenly the same piece of tailoring can feel completely different.
It’s less about the suit itself, and more about how you choose to wear it.

2 - Lose the Uniform

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with a white shirt, tie and a beautifully tailored suit. I still love wearing all three.
But put the same combination together every time and tailoring can quickly start to feel like a uniform.
Sometimes changing just one element is enough to take it somewhere completely ditterent.

3 - Open the Collar

Probably the easiest place to start.
Take off the tie, open the collar and let the suit relax a little.
You haven’t changed the tailoring at all, but the entire outfit suddenly feels less formal.

4 - Change What’s Underneath

A suit doesn’t always need a dress shirt.
Fine-gauge knitwear is one of my favorite alternatives. It softens the tailoring, adds some texture and makes the whole thing feel much easier to wear outside of a formal setting.

5 - Relax the Shoes

Shoes have far more influence over a suit than we sometimes give them credit for.
Swap a formal Oxford for a loafer or something in suede and the entire outfit immediately becomes more relaxed.
It’s a small change, but one that completely changes where the suit feels appropriate.

6 - Add Texture

Not every outfit needs more color or another pattern.
Sometimes the interest comes from the fabric itself.
Linen, hopsack, flannel, suede and knitwear all bring depth to tailoring without making it feel busy. Often, the closer you look, the better it gets.

7 - Wear It With Ease

This might be the most important part.
The best tailoring shouldn’t look like you spent twenty minutes adjusting everything in the mirror before leaving the house.
Open the shirt. Put your hands in your pockets.
Throw the jacket over your shoulder.
Wear it like you’re comfortable in it.

8 - The Takeaway

We’ve become very good at saving suits for work, weddings and occasions that tell us we’re supposed to wear one.
But change the shirt, shoes, fabrics and attitude, and that same suit can go almost a by @felixwarrender

1. Price
An expensive suit can still be the wrong suit.
Price and fit are two very different things.

2. The Price Illusion
Better cloth and construction are worth paying for.
But they only matter if the proportions work for you.

3. Ready to Wear
The number on the label is only a starting point.
Two men can wear the same size and need completely different alterations.

4. Fit ≠ Tight
Slimmer doesn’t automatically mean better fitted.
The goal is balance, shape and enough room to move naturally.

5. Start at the Shoulders
Sleeves and waist can be adjusted relatively easily.
Shoulders are where you want to get it right from the beginning.

6. The Final 10%
The smallest alterations often make the biggest difference.
A few centimeters can completely change how a garment sits.

7. The Real Luxury
When the fit is right, you stop noticing the garment first.
You notice the man wearing it.

8. The Takeaway
Don’t buy the reputation on the label.
Buy the garment that looks like it was made for you. by @felixwarrender

What I wore through the South of France in nearly 40°C heat (or 105°F in freedom units) because dressing well and dressing for the weather don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

Nothing overly structured. Nothing that couldn’t breathe. And nothing so precious that I couldn’t spend the entire day walking in it.

The clothes still need shape and proportion, but they also need to work with the heat and with the place you’re wearing them.

Turns out 40 degrees is considerably more manageable with a little linen and an espresso nearby.

📍 — Aix-en-Provence

Aix called for something a little more understated. A tonal polo and cream linen trousers kept the palette close to the warm stone, café tables and faded neutrals around me. Relaxed enough for an espresso in the afternoon, but still put together enough to feel at home in Provence.

📍— Pont du Gard

At Pont du Gard, anything too dressed would have felt out of place. A grey striped linen shirt, white linen shorts and simple sneakers kept things light and practical in the summer heat, while the grey and white brought a little freshness against two thousand years of sun warmed stone.

📍— Arles

Arles has its own palette… faded blue shutters, pale limestone and streets bleached by the Provençal sun. The pale blue linen and high rise cream trousers weren’t chosen to compete with any of it, but to sit quietly within those same colours, finished with camel suede loafers for a little warmth and texture.

📍— Uzès

By the time I reached Uzès, less felt like more. White on white kept things simple in the heat, but linen, rolled sleeves and the texture of the fabric stopped it feeling too clean or precious, particularly against cobblestones and centuries old stone.

📍 — Paris → Avignon

The journey south started in Paris, so this one had to work for the train as much as the destination. A lightweight white linen shirt with relaxed grey linen pleated trousers and brown loafers gave me the comfort I wanted without defaulting to typical travel clothes. An espresso somewhere between Paris and Avignon took care of the rest. taken in Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France by @felixwarrender

Some places don’t ask you to stand out, they ask you to belong.
Arles is one of them.

Rather than competing with the faded blues of weathered shutters, sun washed limestone, and aged timber, I wanted the outfit to feel as though it had always belonged here.

French summers reward natural fabrics. A lightweight linen shirt in pale blue echoes the Provençal sky, while high rise cream trousers reflect the limestone streets that have been warming under the summer sun for centuries.
Camel loafers add texture without becoming the loudest part of the outfit.

Good clothing shouldn’t overpower a place like this. It should simply feel at home in it.
For me, that’s what dressing well while travelling is all about.
