Hey y’all! Goner Oberst here with a cover of “The Happiest Place on Earth” by Desaparecidos.

This song originally released in 2002 and unfortunately seems to get more relevant by the day.

On a lighter note, this is the song I used to learn what all those black keys on the piano do. It was a pleasure to be able to put my own spin on such an incredibly well written song.

June 2026 was simply too much to contain in one post and I don’t want to leave anything out.

As such, it seems fitting to share this month as a double album.

Consider this Disc 1.

I’m struggling to succinctly convey how amazing my time in New York was.

My luck was being pushed daily and I was able to cash out on some incredible opportunities.

May started strong and kept getting stronger.

SF was fun. Napa was fun. LA was fun.

I know social media is people just showing the good stuff…but seriously May was a lot of good stuff.

Bright Eyes performed Digital Ash in a Digital Urn in its entirety at the Hollywood Bowl on 5.23.2026

Following a delightful set provided by The Moldy Peaches, a countdown appeared on the screens, the stage went dark, and the audience was bathed in a wide array of colors and sounds.

The band struck a flawless balance of faithfully honoring the album while finding subtle ways to evolve the sounds that everyone knows and loves.

Idk what else to say other than it fucking ruled…the band, the songs, the set design, the motion graphics, the crowd, and the messaging.

Bright Eyes performed I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning in its entirety at the Hollywood Bowl on 5.23.2026

The band played under a gorgeous golden Californian sun to an entranced crowd eager to sing along.

This was a phenomenal event that showcased timeless songwriting, incredible musicianship, and masterful production.

2025 was equal parts global despair, self pity, and renewed energy.

I’ll focus on the latter third for this post.

I continue to look back with nothing but immense gratitude for the opportunities provided to me. I thank all my loved ones, friends, and artists who made 2025 as incredible as it was.

It was difficult to pick what to share, but I tried my damndest to get a solid mix of old and new favorites alike.

For those reading along, here are some highlights:

• 🎲 Saw 5 incredible @brighteyesofficial shows with songs I’ve longed to see performed live for years.

• ❤️ 3 beautiful trips to “war ravaged” Portland with so much hospitality provided by loving friends and the community as a whole. Even had the opportunity to play my first solo show thanks to @positivityclubmusic

• 🥁 Performed 7 shows with @future.past.band and had the chance to play drums live for the first time!

• 🐕‍🦺 Brought our pup to her first concert via Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. She got to see @cassmccombs and @joshritter before we had to leave once she started getting fussy. Not bad for her first show…mine was New Kids on the Block so I think she has me beat on cred there.

Social media is weird and honestly sometimes it’s a little void-shouty, but for those of you who take the time to read, watch, or listen to anything I share — thank you and I wish you the best in 2026 and hope we can continue to cross paths. 🤘 by @fellow.goner

November was a fast one. Likely a personal best for number of shows attended in a month. Still on that gratitude kick as I’m able to enjoy the crisp fall air and visit some of my favorite places in the bay. by @fellow.goner
