Before we close this chapter, one more story.

With a new season of the SingaporeBrides Campaign, we revisit an old tale — 𝑰 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑩𝒂𝒄𝒌.

As cliché as it may sound, we wanted to see what would happen if we translated those words into a space. One shaped by old charm, quiet romance, and a little imagination.

Join us on 𝟏𝟓 & 𝟏𝟔 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭, Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre, 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐃, as we share this story. with you.

For those who have noticed the quiet, the delayed replies, and our gradual retreat from this space - you weren’t imagining it.

In truth, we’ve been absent long before we found the words to explain why. What began as a period of pause slowly revealed itself to be something more. And perhaps we owe it to those who have supported us, and grown alongside us to finally say it out loud.

Somewhere along the way, 𝘸𝘦𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘺.

Over the years, the shift became impossible to ignore - not just in trends, but in design intention itself. What once felt thoughtful, intentional, and deeply personal slowly gave way to a different pace, different priorities, and different sensibilities.

As the industry changed, so did its audience. Weddings became increasingly repetitive, faster, and more performative. Somewhere between algorithms, aesthetics, and endless replication, the romance of creating something quietly thoughtful began to disappear for me.

FellowFolks was never built to simply arrange flowers. It was built around 𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒔, with flowers becoming the medium through which those ideas took form. To tell stories. To build atmospheres. To make people feel something.

Closing the chapter on the SingaporeBrides Wedding Fair August ’26 Edition.

This time, we wove our decor into a little storybook brought to life — almost like stepping into a pop-up book, where every fold, layer and detail reveals a little more of the tale.

𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘰𝘯, we tell 𝘩𝘪𝘴 story this time — of moonlit nights, distant stars, and a boy reaching for something just beyond his grasp.

And perhaps, in 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬, he found his way to 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞.

Dancing drapes, catching the sea breeze as the ceremony unfolded beneath the canopy of a great old tree.

Inside the ballroom, drapery softened, washed over and framed their entrance, while trees and hedges were layered around the existing columns to reshape the space.

The stage was brought into the middle of the ballroom, shifting the focus away from a traditional front-facing setup and allowing the couple, their guests and the moments in between to become part of the experience.

Less about a traditional ballroom setup, more about creating a space where the couple and their people could take over.

A little 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉, a little 𝙶𝚊𝚛𝚍𝚎𝚗, framed by Singapore’s colonial architecture.

Flowers are becoming increasingly prominent in fashion and visual culture — used to express a feeling, tell a story, establish a mood, reference a colour, or carry a symbol.

So, are flowers a fashion item?

Perhaps the more interesting question is: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠?

They can hold meaning, create tension, soften a space, anchor a visual language, or become part of a larger narrative.

And perhaps this is why we are seeing more people resonate with non-floral elements in place of traditional wedding decor. Objects, textures, materials, and installations can sometimes speak more closely to the intention behind a celebration.

Because ultimately, the question isn’t “𝘋𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘴?”

It’s “𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒘𝒆𝒅𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈?”

And once you know that, the flowers — or whatever takes their place — should have a reason to be there. by @fellowfolks

Lately, I've been asking myself:
"𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘥𝘰 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬?"

Perhaps Restrained. Intentional. Finesse.

Because once I know those words, they become the compass for design decisions I make.

That question has also led me to think about a word I hear almost every day in our industry.

𝑽𝒊𝒃𝒆.

We've become very good at describing work as "𝒂 𝒗𝒊𝒃𝒆."

But somewhere along the way, I wonder if we've stopped developing a more critical language for design.

When everything is "𝒂 𝒗𝒊𝒃𝒆.," the word 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨.

It becomes an easy way to justify work without ever asking 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈.

More importantly, it allows work that hasn't been rigorously thought through to be defended as if it doesn't need to be questioned.

Instead of settling on "𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒂 𝒗𝒊𝒃𝒆," shouldn't we be asking better questions?

Is it the scale?
The distribution of colour?
The use of negative space?

When we reduce all of those design decisions to a single word, we 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 to articulate 𝒘𝒉𝒚 something succeeds.

For decades, the creative industry prized precision. Then came a healthy correction—we became more receptive to work that felt human, tactile and 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵.

Flowers that bent naturally instead of standing upright. Uneven compositions. Hand-torn paper. Objects with patina instead of polish.

Those imperfections weren't valuable because they were 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵. They were valuable because they were 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥.

As our industry has become more accepting of imperfection, and I genuinely think that's a healthy shift - I also find myself wo by @fellowfolks

One for the books.

Our first hanging installation backdrop, made possible by a couple, and a team who was just as willing to embrace the adventure. 🤍

Every now and then, we revisit the principles that guide how we work - because our goal has always been the same: 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵.

We’re not the right fit for everyone, and that’s entirely okay.

If we’re working towards the same vision, here are two things that shape how we approach every project:

• 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐲.

When a budget is spread thin across many individual elements, the overall visual impact is often diluted.

We’d rather create one unforgettable design statement than ten forgettable ones.

• 𝐢𝐟 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧..

We welcome conversations and questions. Constantly questioning our judgement is something else.

Years of experience inform every recommendation we make. If that experience carries little weight during the planning process, it rarely changes as the wedding approaches. Our role isn’t to defend every creative choice - we’re here to guide, curate, and create the best possible outcome for your celebration.

In revisiting photographs from what we affectionately call our annual 𝑨𝒅𝒖𝒍𝒕 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅, we were reminded that some of our greatest joys have always been found in collaborative work — friends gathered around a shared idea, a little creative chaos, and the freedom to create without too many boundaries (other than the budget, of course).

Perhaps this is what we’ve always been most grateful for — not merely the things we made, but the people we made them with.

In the meantime, we remain committed to the projects we’ve taken on and are looking forward to a handful of meaningful events and collaborations in the months ahead.

Fragments of Batu Pahat.

Creatives from all over the world, drawn to this quiet little town. Four days of colour, intention, and something that can’t quite be put into words.

Just like that, it’s over. But the mark it leaves? That stays.

Until next time. by @fellowfolks

Colour doesn’t just show up here. It speaks, it lingers, it leaves a mark.

Day 2 was the kind that gets under your skin. Every frame considered, every detail deliberate. Set design, makeup, wardrobe. Not just crafted, but felt.

The Sanren way isn’t about chasing moments. It’s about understanding them before they exist. Thinking and feeling the shot before the shutter goes off.

Analytical. Conceptual. Intentional.
Where creativity knows when to move, and when to be still. by @fellowfolks

Day 1 recap and we’re already obsessed.
The tour, the exhibition, getting completely lost in the town of Batu Pahat, then closing it out with a live shoot at a Kampung and just vibing with everyone there. Day 1 packed everything in and didn’t hold back. The kind of day you don’t want to end.

And being back for Year 2 at Sanren’s workshop? It hits different when you already know the magic this place carries, yet somehow it still finds a way to surprise you every single time.
More from the workshop, stay tuned!
