Day 84 – Stage Two

I woke this morning feeling tired. In fact, I slept in. My body is aching, and yesterday I could tell my head just wasn't thinking clearly. There is so much to see and do, and I simply can't fit it all in.
I took the time to rest this morning. Generously, Mellie offered for me to stay a second night, which I truly appreciate. Danke!

Having a rest day gave me the opportunity to catch up on a few things. I needed to complete my Iceland declaration and pay the $144 AUD to take Rocket over. I also needed to make plans for Iceland and my journey onwards through Sweden and Norway. It all takes time and a lot of concentration.

More importantly, I need to look after myself and listen to how I'm feeling. One lapse in concentration while riding could have life-changing consequences. Playing it safe, I took today very easy.

I caught up with my framily (friends who are family) back home on a video call. I do this regularly because I miss them a lot, and it reminds me of who I am, where I've come from, and just how special they are in my life. Without their support, I probably wouldn't have made it this far.

Later, I took a stroll around the little village where I'm staying. Home to around 4,000 people, it's a quiet rural village about 30 minutes from Bonn in western Germany. The peaceful surroundings suited me perfectly today, giving me time to think, plan the next stage of my journey, and simply enjoy the serenity of Mellie's garden. I even found time to meditate, something I haven't done since leaving Australia.

Mellie cooked another amazing dinner and invited her Bunk-a-Biker guest, Roel from the Netherlands, to join us. It was a really lovely evening filled with conversations about motorcycles, travel, and adventures on the road.
