BREAKING: WE ARE CALLING FOR NATIONAL STUDENT WALKOUTS & RALLIES to #StopSexualViolence 🗣️

On October 8th, students across the country are walking out of class to #StopSexualViolence.

We stand with LSU's Kendall Francis, Cornell's Jane Doe, and survivors everywhere. We demand survivor justice.

From the frat house to the White House, we refuse to allow sexual and gender-based violence to be normalized, excused, and supported by our government, businesses, universities, and institutions. We young women, girls, and LGBTQIA+ youth deserve to live with safety and dignity. We deserve a world free from sexual violence.

We're walking out to demand justice for survivors across our schools. To demand our schools invest in survivor resources and sexual violence prevention. To build campuses free of sexual violence.

Last Sunday, we gathered during these critical times to dream about the feminist futures our communities deserve, and how we build those futures, together.

On Day 2 of the Feminism Now! Convention, we were grateful to be joined by organizational partners across movements to envision and build joint feminist struggle. Our panelists brought wisdom and experience to discuss feminist visions of demilitarization, de-incarceration, immigrant justice, abolition, survivor justice, and a multi-racial feminist working people’s democracy.

Love, solidarity, and gratitude to our participants, partner organizations, and members who participated in these critical conversations. @mvmnt4blklives @feminist.gen @instabaji @freedcproject @metoomvmt @usstudentassociation @tiffanydloftin @hugetfree @getfree_mvmt @eracoalition @sunrisemvmt @aberkawas @palestinianfeministcollective @hearttogrow @rising_majority and more

We are fighting for a feminism that is rooted and a feminism that wins.

Join us alongside @genderlib next Thursday, Nov 5th to demand Mt Sinai immediately reinstate gender-affirming care for trans youth, instead of complying with the Trump administration.

RSVP to join the Feminist Generation contingent at the link in our bio 💚

“In September Mt Sinai reached a settlement with the Trump DOJ to permanently end gender affirming care for trans youth. The settlement also required them to dedicate $2 million to detransition related care. Mt Sinai didn’t end this care because science said it was unsafe. They capitulated to the Trump administration’s attacks on trans people, their families, and the healthcare providers who care for them.” - Gender Liberation Movement

Thank you, Dolores Huerta.

April 10, 1930 - October 28, 1026

Yesterday, the world lost beloved labor leader, civil rights activist, and feminist organizer Dolores Huerta.

Dolores Huerta dedicated her life to justice. She organized and transformed the lives of farm workers as a co-founder of United Farm Workers (UFW). She was an unapologetic feminist and champion of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). She was adamant that labor justice was inseparable from gender justice, and fought hard for the rights of working women. At 96, she bravely shared her story of sexual abuse, demanding safety and dignity for women in our movements for liberation.

We thank her for her truth-telling, and her decades of movement-building to demand justice for working people, immigrants, and women.

Dolores Huerta coined the rallying cry “¡Sí, se puede!”, meaning yes, it can be done or yes, we can. Led by her legacy, we will continue to build a feminism that is rooted in dignity, safety, and liberation for all women and working people.

Our thoughts are with her loved ones. 🕯️

Solidarity forever.

Young people across the world are leading the fight for repair, freedom, and equality. It’s time to join them in turning the tide. by @feminist.gen

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 1 in 3 women experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. Yet so many stories go unheard and underreported, survivors go unsupported and too many carry the scars of violence for life. Others never make it out alive. Before this month is over, I hope you’ll consider supporting frontline organizations doing the everyday work of helping survivors find safety.

At @wearemalikah, that looks like everything from self-defense training and emergency cash assistance to court accompaniment and finding safe housing. We know leaving a violent situation is rarely simple and safety requires more than telling someone to leave. It requires community, resources and sustained support. Support our work: malikah.org/donate

Additional resources for survivors:

* National Domestic Violence Hotline: 800-799-7233 or text START to 88788
* NYC Domestic Violence Hotline: 800-621-HOPE (4673)
* NYC Family Justice Centers: Free, confidential support, legal assistance, and safety planning. Call 311 to connect.

Everyone deserves a life free from violence. And every survivor deserves a community that shows up for them. #donate #charity #women #nyc by @feminist.gen

The feminist student movement is alive! 🔥

Students from 100+ schools walked out of class on October 8th to #StopSexualViolence.

But we aren’t stopping there. Young people across the country are coming together and rising up. We demand justice for survivors across all of our campuses. We demand policy change and material investment in sexual violence prevention. We demand the full funding of gender and ethnic studies and student resource centers.

REPOST @democracynow: Scores of students from New York City’s Columbia University and Barnard College protested outside the gates of Columbia on Thursday in solidarity with Cornell University’s Jane Doe, the former student who was allegedly gang-raped in 2024 at the Chi Phi fraternity house by seven male students who avoided criminal prosecution. The protest was part of a national day of action during which high schoolers, college students and advocates held walkouts, rallies and vigils in at least 40 states across the country in response to Cornell’s handling of the Jane Doe case.

“The feminist student movement is alive,” said Ella Duncan-High @elladuncanh, the national organizing director of Feminist Generation and a student at George Mason University in Virginia. “We are here because every campus in this country has survivors, and every campus in this country deserves a movement fighting for them.”

Thank you @democracynow for uplifting our call to #StopSexualViolence by @feminist.gen

Kohen Wiley’s murder is not justified.

We are beyond outraged and heartbroken. The murder of children is never justified. We stand with Kohen Wiley’s family in demanding transparency, accountability, and justice, including a federal investigation into his murder.

From Nolan Wells to Kohen Wiley, Black children deserve to LIVE, and live with protection, safety, and dignity. Black mothers and families deserve to raise their children without fear or state violence, and in safe, supported, and resourced communities.

Justice for Kohen Wiley, NOW.

——

Repost @democracynow: Mississippi’s Attorney General has ruled that a white Senatobia police officer was justified in fatally shooting a Black infant, Kohen Wiley, in June. Senatobia’s police chief was fired last month after he was found to have used racial slurs in private texts. by @feminist.gen
