It’s been one week since The Next Wave 2, and we’re still in awe! 🥹✨

All of the soft girls showed up and showed OUT. From the energy to the conversations to the moments in between, your presence, openness, and good vibes helped make The Next Wave 2 an unforgettable experience. 🤍

A few moments we captured along the way. We saved our favorite for last. 👀🤍

Love making waves with my fav gyal @imkatrinarojas 🥹🌊🫶🏽
So grateful to have @femmeflo_ partner with @softgirlsoftlifeco to bring The Next Wave to all the soft girlies last week. It was such a beautiful time to experience again for our second year and I’m already so excited for the next.

And y’all looked soooo GOODT too 🔥 We danced, made new friends, listened to beautiful poetry and music, and laughed andddddd on a boat? ☺️ Thank you to everyone who chose to celebrate life with us, believed in the vision, and boarded with an open heart and mind to meet new people, experience new things, and leave in sisterhood. Thank you to @legacythornton for giving us a MAJESTIC performance on the water. Cuz that blue on blue action was heavenly!
Thank you to the beautiful poets who graced the open mic; each one of those pieces still lives with me wow.

I really love doing the work I do and I love it even more when I do it with the people I love. Curating these experiences brings me such joy and I’m honored my good sis brought me on board on this journey. We love yall so much and forever appreciative for all of it.

The Next Wave is another reminder that healing and joy can happen in community, at the same time. This exists to honor our softness, celebrate how far we’ve come and step into September with open hearts.

Due to an unexpected scheduling change with the boat company, The Next Wave will now set sail at 5PM tomorrow, butttt they upgraded us to a bigger boat, which means MORE soft girls can join us! 🥹🤍

✨ MEET OUR VIOLINIST: ABIGAIL JEAN-BAPTISTE 🎻🌊

Soft girlies, imagine this: stepping onto the boat, the city behind you, the water surrounding you, and the sound of a live violin welcoming you into The Next Wave. 💐✨

We’re so excited to have Abigail Jean-Baptiste opening this year’s experience and setting the tone for everything to come.

A classically trained violinist with over 20 years of musical experience, Abigail’s sound has graced some of the country’s most iconic stages — from Madison Square Garden to Boston Symphony Hall to MGM Music Hall at Fenway. 🎻 Her artistry is rooted in years of classical training with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra and has evolved into a sound that moves beautifully between orchestral tradition and contemporary expression.

And on August 30th, she’s bringing that sound to the water. 🌊

Come aboard, settle into the moment, and let Abi’s strings welcome you into an afternoon created for softness, creativity, connection, and community.

A Dorchester native and true multi-hyphenate, Legacy is an accomplished model, poet, singer, and actor whose artistry moves across mediums with intention. As a non-binary Black femme, their work is rooted in exploration — of self, community, gender, sexuality, and the Black American–Soulaani experience — creating art that makes space for deeper understanding, visibility, and affirmation.

And we cannot WAIT to experience what they bring to The Next Wave. 🌊

The Next Wave is all about softness, expression, connection, and taking up space as our fullest selves and Legacy is bringing their artistry right into the current. ✨

Last summer, we caught a wave. 🌊 This summer, we’re riding it again.

THE NEXT WAVE: Soft Girls at Sea Vol. 2 🤍⛵️

Soft Girl Soft Life x Femme Flo are bringing the soft girlies back to the Boston Harbor for an evening rooted in sisterhood, softness, creativity + connection.

Last year, we wrote. We grounded. We shared poetry. We made new connections. We laughed until the boat came back to shore. So naturally… we had to run it back. 🌊

Join us Sunday, August 30th as we gather again for an intimate experience on the water featuring:

🎤 Live poetry performances
🌊 Open mic on the Boston Harbor

My name is Essmaa Litim
Some of you may know me as Yessmaa.  I was raised in the streets of Boston with roots stretching back to Algerie
I am a daughter of immigrants
I carry their departure and arrival in the same breath.  My life’s work is a growing collection of stories both inherited and new.  I create to expand legacy, to honor the sacredness of life, and for the preservation of it.
I am a poet who learned that language is not just spoken,  it lives in the body,  in the silence between breaths,  in the stories our mothers never told but our bones remember.
My voice is both archive and prophecy,
braiding memory, resilience, and vision.
I am a gardener,  I plant seeds where I see the soil ready for life. Then I write for my ancestors who ground grain and grief in the same stone,  who turned scarcity into sustenance,  who made resistance taste like bread.
I don’t just write poems, I cut language until it fits the truth.  I don’t just speak words, I give them work to do.
My name is Essmaa Litim.
