日月 · DUAL LIGHT

Mid-Autumn comes round again.
Yet the so-called “Full Moon” is, at its core, nothing more than a cosmic alignment precise down to 5.145.
This time, stripping away centuries of gentle romanticism surrounding the moonlight, we deploy low frequencies, light, sound, and celestial data to reconstruct a celestial mechanics ritual of “Moon, Gravity, and Tides” inside our Bushwick space.
Anchoring the space will be a physical Lunar Form installation, paired with a Reactive Lighting System… on this night, you will no longer merely gaze at the moon from afar, but find yourself immersed directly at the resonance center of lunar shade and gravitational tides.

It‘s been a year since I went to Yellowstone, and besides all the spectacular scenery, what stuck with me most was the staff warning us not to step off the boardwalk. He said the last person who did that, when they found her, only one foot was left. That set the tone for the whole trip, beautiful and dangerous. Surprisingly by the end of the performance, the whole visual had turned into the story of a goat that lost its footing and fell into a sulfur pool and died.

Thanks to @amyjiang517 for the invite🙌🏻 She went to Yellowstone recently too, so we really connected over that. I think that’s part of why our visuals and music matched so well, and the flute tone was just perfect for it. Can‘t wait to see more performances from this talented woman @aaamiee.wav

Lately I’ve been feeling this deeply💭 Working with talented people just works, even without planning ahead. Robin and I literally met for the first time that day, and still the three of us, music and visuals, could communicate and the result was surprisingly good. @robinterface ‘s synth was insane.

Huge thanks to @hexh0use for having us. When they said this space was about supporting local artists, that really moved me. Everyone was so nice and supportive. Thank you all, thank you @mikeclemow @to_be_claire for organizing, and thanks to everyone who came out to support us💗

Have organized 25+ shows in the past 3 years, but this was my first time experiencing the audience from the performer’s perspective.

Huge thanks to Mike @mikeclemow for creating a space that’s so open to improvisation + cross-artist collaboration. This is exactly the kind of infrastructure I’ve been wanting to create and explore as an organizer.

Thank you Rob @robinterface for being such an amazing music collaborator. Drums + synths + flute turned out to be such a cool combo. Shout out to Lin @fenglin.art for the visual storytelling that captivated everyone. The story of a goat lost in Yellowstone geysers carried what I wanted to convey through the music: confronting the force, violence, and fatality of nature that we tend to neglect and suppress.

The 3 of us played like we’d done this several times before, but we actually just got together that day for the first time🫢
