stopped in for scones at this quirky spot and lost track of time. ☕️

an off-grid magical haven with roaming ducks, pigs, and chickens, a beautiful pond, succulent gardens, collected seashells tucked into every crevice, serving fresh wood-fired scones with homemade jam.

the moment we stepped in, we entered a portal. time seemed to pass differently. 🌀 a quick stop somehow turned into hours.

maybe a good life is not bigger, maybe it’s slower. maybe not everything beautiful happens quickly. maybe simplicity has been the real luxury all along. maybe the things that matter most are simpler than we think. taken in The Scone Shack by @fenivanova

spent time volunteering at @careforwild - a conservation organization and wild rhino sanctuary specializing in the rescue, rehabilitation, rewilding, and protection of orphaned and injured rhinos. it was humbling and inspiring to see the teams dedication and servitude to the mission, and their contribution to protecting and bettering our earth. it is something i will always hold with me in life.

the south african bush is wild. it doesn’t soften its edges for anyone. there is a primal honesty to it. nothing is staged. life, death, growth, and decay all exist within the same rhythm.

it’s brutal at times, but never cruel. everything has its place. everything gives something back. the bush is not orderly in a neat sense, but deeply coherent.

predators feed more than themselves, what is left behind feeds to scavengers, insects, and soil.
what dies returns to the earth.
the earth feeds life again.
a fallen tree becomes shelter, nourishment, new growth.
bugs and mushrooms quietly break things down so something else can live.
even decay is part of keeping the whole system alive. everything belongs to the same rhythm.

nothing is wasted. nothing exists separately.

everything belongs to the same rhythm.

and standing in the middle of it, you feel something reaching within you.

maybe because we were never meant to be separate from nature. yet somehow we’ve convinced ourselves that we are.. living removed from the earth, disconnected from the rhythms that once grounded us. but the bush reminds you.

and no matter how far you go, part of you will always want to come back. 🐘 taken in South Africa by @fenivanova
