This week's class was belly dance drills πŸ’“ Forgot how hard isolations & layering can be! It's a challenge because it really requires discipline and focus, but there's a kind of grounding peace and sense of connection to myself that I find in belly dance and I definitely missed it. With this style of dance you truly have to get out of your head and use your brain power to move your body and I appreciate the complexity of it. taken in Belly Dance Tucson by @feral_assumption

Last week my main focus was just to MOVE again and in my post class reflection I was glad for the connection and confidence I got from the class. This week in my post class reflection I found that I would like to pay more attention to where I can improve my performance and come into my body more. I haven't taken a dance class in like 10 years, but I guess I've still got it 😏 I made it my goal for the first half of 2026 to take a different class every week until I've tried all the ones I'm curious about and then pick a few to stick with. A little pink, a little purple, a little blue ~ some moments with loved ones from a year spent mostly in solitude πŸŒ·πŸ‘ΎπŸ’™ I was quiet on social media this year, but some stuff did happen in my little world... I turned 30. I was unwell and I kept to myself a lot. I finally did some tending to my health and did the same for my cats (it's all a work in progress). I got a new plant last New Year (pregnant onion) and it had babies this summer + I did an experimental replanting of some plants and a lot of them didn't survive, but one really fluorished. The summer storms destruction changed the view from my apartment. The 30 ft tall pine that served as a home to a family of falcons the last few years got cut down (it likely would have fallen on my apartment if left up to mother nature), and it made me sad but the missing trees and branches now let some sun into my windows and Soupy rolls around when it hits a certain spot on the floor and I can see the moon and the stars and the sunsets. I pet a lot of critters and even saved a few. I lived out my pink era and then went purple (pink is still my fave color, but I'm also loving brown lately 🀎). I took my last selfie in the employee bathroom at Moto and started a new job at a brand new local beer&wine bar. I voted for the first time. I grieved and I came into acceptance about some things. I spent Christmas & New Year's home alone for the first time ever. I can't lie, 2024 was a rough year and totally not what I expected. BUT I also made some plans for reviving my art, which includes dance/choreography, photography, writing (mainly poetry), and witchcraft... Plus a few new things I'll be exploring and other loved hobbies I'll be reconnecting with✨ The most important plan I made though IMO, is to start shamelessly and unapologetically sharing my rendition of the human experience and art with you. [Or at least I'm really gonna try!] I struggle to be vulnerable and allow myself to be seen in my true essence, but I know it's the only way to live authentically and make the connections I desire.
