Can I rate a book 1,000,000 stars?

I’ve followed Isabel and Simon over on @simonsits for what feels like years, and this memoir has been at the top of my radar for 2026.

Simon, to Isabel, is my dog George, to me. George has been with me for 10 years now after someone found him inexplicably roaming the streets. There was no medical history. There were no notes on his behavior or tendencies. He was just a scared little dog who didn’t know what was going on. He needed a lot of love, and I needed to learn what true love actually was.

Reading Isabel‘s memoir about dogs and love and how they’re always there for you through breakups, pandemics, moving, and new love resonates so deeply to my own life. I feel like she has written my soul down in a way that I have never been able to fully grasp.

I’m so so incredibly grateful that this story exists in all of its beautiful shapes and forms. This is a MUST read.

i saw a cutie booksta friend @neverending.story.mp3 doing the bookshelf scavenger hunt and i thought it was so FUN. truly had to search my shelves to answer some of these prompts, and i got to relive some of my absolute favs 😭.

some standouts worth mentioning:
𖦹 poison study by maria v snyder. i was SHOCKEDDD when i saw this was originally published in 2005???? and the copy i got from a thrift store was a first edition(????). this book is so FUN. a prisoner-turned-poison-taster x spy master fall in love. he carves little figurines at night 😭. her horse mindspeaks with her 😭. a twisty plot AND the original bat boys??? let’s go.
𖦹 fairyloot’s edition of divine rivals by rebecca ross will forever be my absolute fav cover. it is the only book i’ve ever bought at gross reseller pricing because i couldn’t stand the thought of not owning it.
𖦹 the throne of glass series will always be my fav series of all time - it was so deeply needed as an escape when i first read it 10 years ago. fun fact: both of my tattoos are based on quotes from this series! taken in Raleigh-Durham, NC, USA by @feralbookcat

y’all my creativity has been in the DUMPS and it gave me too much anxiety to post last week (eek!) so here are some things i’m loving, reading, obsessing over, etc etc!

just finished my reread of clockwork prince by cassie clare (5 stars forever!!!) and the mash up for book club 🪩. i’m in the middle of SO many books rn so do with that what you will!!!!! feels fitting given my weird mood this past week 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

officially caught up with the more recent eps of HOTD but i have been in a world cup chokehold for the past several weeks ⚽️ shoutout to colombia and england for trying their best. ALSO JIMOTHY??? the videos of him are so cute SOS

NOAH KAHAN FOREVER!!!! going to his show this weekend with my besties and i can’t wait to sing, scream, and cry all at once 😊😊😊

this dang cyclospora mystery to be identified and RESOLVED 😠 this is not a cute summer look!!!!! i want my vegetables and fruit back!!!!!

the most wonderful birthday party ever for one of my fav 3 year olds!!!!! it was so fun to help plan and decorate for it 🪩🧚✨

MOONLIGHT PEAKS FOREVER!!!! it’s on steam but i am playing on my partner’s switch. imagine a hybrid of animal crossing and stardew valley, it is SO! MUCH! FUN! it’s cozy as hecK and i’m recommending it to everyone!!! like what do you mean i’m a cutie vampire and i am trying to woo the local shifter carpenter???

okay, but should you read it??? i sorted ALL my 2026 reads into yes / no / maybe and i do fear some of my choices are a little HOT 👹🚨

and before you come for me!!! ALL of my maybes are because i’d really have to know what you’re into/what your triggers are before i recommend it 😭. sometimes i think blanket recs can be a bit harmful! and i see them a lot in the booksta universe. so here is me, alone with a little microphone saying “maybe” instead!!!

also my no’s???? we don’t need to talk about those 🏃🏃🏃

happy weekend!!! i realized whilst scrolling my tbr that i have a tendency to judge books by their cover(!!!!). so so many were added to my tbr simply based on the vibes of the cover and NOT the synopsis, which feels kind of wild tbh??

THE ROOMMATE RULE - an easy 5/5 stars!! 💕

this is the second book i’ve read by georgia stone, and it was literally so delicious with all the banter and swoony moments throughout. this novel follows ava’s twin brother from The Friendship Fling, so read that first if you haven’t yet! both are a perfect book for summer vacation or the pool/beach ☀️.

vibes you can expect:

🧎‍♀️ he’s her friend’s brother
☯️ opposites attract
👯‍♀️ strong friendships
⏰ “just for the trip”

We had another BANGER of a month over in our fable book club reading Annie Knows Everything by Rachel Wood! 🩷

This one has been one of my absolute FAVORITE reads this year, and it was so fun to get to see everyone else’s thoughts chapter by chapter!

we are sooo close to being halfway through the year and my favorite month is almost OVER 😭. i have loved doing this mid-year recap over the past couple of years, so here is my 2026 edition!

𖦹 best book so far: if not you by ellen o’clover. campbell is chef KISS.
𖦹 best sequel: broken dove by dani francis which left me so WTF and !!!!!! all at once
𖦹 new release: in her own league by liz tomforde - i’ve loved this series so so much. this was highly anticipated!
𖦹 anticipated release: OF COURSE my #1 for this entire year will be the new acotar book!
𖦹 most disappointing: the night we met by abby jimenez had my least favorite tropes
𖦹 most surprising: also if not you!!! i was truly so ???? when i first picked it up but the way it did a complete 180 deserves awards
𖦹 fav new author: GEORGIA STONE!!! queen of my heart!!!!! such a CUTE romance read
𖦹 fav couple & character: this was tough but how to write a love story’s ciara and sam. i LOVE them!!! so funny, so swoony, so ADORABLE.
𖦹 made me cry: of course i am going with dogs, boys, and other things i’ve cried about by isabel klee. this had me weeping at 6am.
𖦹 fav adaptation: i added this as a twist on the tag, but i loooved the pwmov adaptation and i cannot wait to see if another adaptation will top it later this year 👀 (looking at you love hypothesis)
