Ultimately this piece was eaten by the ocean that day. But examination of inner surface showed things that needed to be seen and a burden was lightened. The rocks and cliffs called it home, at least these photos hold some of the light of those moments. With any luck this form will be reincarnated. 🫠🤞#ceramics #stoneware #malcomdavisshino #poseidon #northpacific by @ferric.decay

The Redwood Time project had a field trip to the mud flats to collect wild clay. We hope to make beads to adorn a timeline on our fabric redwood round but realized how little we know about the process of processing, making and firing wild clay. Any bead makers out there that can give us a hand? Our tour guide @the_evil_scrunchies, filled our heads with all sorts of fascinating information about the area, including the following: The mud flats are thought to be the result of compression between the oceanic Pacific plate + continental North American Plate along the San Andreas fault zone. Rain water enters the soil and flows along underground layers of rock or clay. Tectonic pressure increases with depth until the water is pushed back up to surface mixed with silt and clay. Co2 from decaying matter creates bubbling or boiling. We witnessed the bubbling and boiling, caressed the soft cool water, squished clay between our fingers and spotted evidence of Bigfoot.#wildclay #mudflats #fortbraggca #redwoodtime #fieldtrip #larryspringmuseum #bigfootprints #tectonicplates by @ferric.decay
