Today, I’m celebrating something really powerful, that we all have access to …. our imagination.

It’s through our imagination that we take that first step to bring something from an idea into reality and ‘test out’ how a desire makes us feel.
There is no limit to what we can imagine and it can be great fuel for our joy and creativity.

However, imagination can also feel like a double-edged sword.

Whilst we can use it to fantasize positively, creating beautiful, imagined scenarios of success, happiness, reaching our goals, and having wonderful experiences …
… we can also use it to create negative scenarios, to catastrophize, to worry, and to imagine horrific situations where we fail, where we’re upset, or where we’re scared by imagined outcomes.

Yet, even though it can be used ‘unwisely’, I’m still celebrating our imagination today because it is entirely our choice how we use it.

Just because we can misuse it doesn’t mean it isn’t worth celebrating.

This brings us to the real key: the power of choice.

Choice is what allows us to use our imagination positively.
We can choose to be selective about what we focus upon, feel into and visualize.

There’s one step that I personally find incredibly powerful when using my imagination.

For me, it’s not really about seeing pictures or movies in my mind.

It comes alive when I actually feel the feeling of having the experience I desire, and tune into what that gives me.

Then imagination becomes a profound way to understand ourselves, to discover what we truly value, and to experience the pure joy of something without requiring the physical lived experience.

How are you choosing to use your imagination today?

Let me know in the comments below! 👇

You can change a lot in 4 weeks, if you take small actions every day.

So what changes would most benefit you?

Yesterday was a new moon, and it’s very powerful to set intentions for change around the new moon and act on them over this lunar cycle.

🌟 Set your intention.
Consciously decide on the change you are going to make.

🌟 Take action.

🌟 Be consistent.
Small daily actions add up over time and will build your capacity to create lasting change.

Examples:
✨You can feel more energised through short daily walks, qi gong, dance breaks or even breathing exercises.
✨You can release worry and anxiety with short rounds of eft tapping, or specific ‘purging’ qigong exercises and meditations.

💫 If you’d like some help making positive changes in your life, such as boosting your energy levels, or releasing anxiety, check out the resources in my bio.

I have free qigong classes, a free ‘Coming Home to Yourself’ video series, my ‘Unburden Masterclass’ to help you work through stuck emotions and my ‘Calm the Chaos Within Workshop and Toolkit’ to bring you from frazzled to flourishing.

I also have availability for 1:1 work over zoom if you don’t know where to start, you want support to make big changes or want to make sure you don’t shy away from tackling tricky or chronic issues.

With love,

Ferris.

This week, I wasn’t sure what my Monday celebration would be, as the last week has been a heavy one, with grieving the death of a loved one and tax return time looming (death and taxes, those inevitable constants in life that we don’t jump up and down in glee about but can’t avoid).

And yet, I always know there’s something to celebrate.

To make it easy, I’ve gone to my ‘go to’ when it’s trickier to find big things to celebrate.

✨Glimmers✨

Glimmers are little feel good, easeful, joyful moments.
I think of them as magic moments ✨

Ones that can lift you out of a funk, at least for a moment, and put a little smile on your face or a spring in your step.

The phrase was coined by the wonderful Deb Dana, polyvagal theory clinician, as an antidote to triggers.

Triggers take us out of feelings of safety, ease and joy whilst glimmers help our nervous system to relax and feel safe and at ease again.

Today’s glimmers have included, but are not limited to

✨talking gibberish to Poppy the cat

✨appreciating the flowers on my desk

✨feeling the flow of the air through my fingers during qi gong practice

✨seeing cute (not magic!) mushrooms pop up in the woodland

✨allowing myself to be mesmerised by the stream rising from my cup

✨having a little fun dance break

✨relaxing into a few long deep breaths

Glimmers are wonderful ways to help us gently change our emotional state.

It’s not a big leap, it’s not ‘fake it ‘till you make it’, it’s just finding and allowing little moments of ease or fun.

And if we consciously do that, and build up those moments it can make a big difference in our day and in our life.

We become more resilient to stress, and can bounce back from setbacks more quickly.

Whilst it doesn’t replace the deeper work that we may need to overcome trauma, challenges and stresses it helps us stay more regulated, grounded and stable while we do our deeper journeying.

Take a moment to find some glimmers in your life today.
See what can put a smile on your face.

And if you’re really struggling, know that things can change for you.
DM me for resources.

Can you let your emotions flow through you naturally?
Or are you trying to hold onto some whilst resisting others?

Children know the flow, they can be angry one minute, then happy the next, because they don’t resist, they allow themselves to feel what they feel in the moment.

We often end up with stuck negative emotions when we don’t actually face them or truly acknowledge them.

What we resist persists.

If you’re feeling stuck emotionally try some eft tapping or qigong shaking to get that stuck energy moving again.

Check out my Unburden masterclass, where I walk you through the process of releasing heavy emotions using eft tapping. The link is in my bio.

Today I picked flowers from one of my favourite places in the world ( the F Squared Garden) for one of my favourite people in the world.

I think she would have liked such a simple and vibrant posy of flowers.

She was like me in that way, enjoying a bunch of simple cottage garden flowers over a fancy bouquet.

I’m glad I could dedicate these flowers that I grew from seed to her.

I have never known anyone else with such innate kindness and generosity of spirit.

So interested in people, so talented and always, quietly, living life her way.

I don’t have ample words for how much she meant to me and how she impacted my life.

I am just very fortunate to have had her as family.

As I searched for a picture of her today, I smiled as I read back through old emails, of the day to day chit chat and plentiful pictures of gardens sent to her ( and the one picture I found of her , with my late dog Sally )
I only took the picture to show her neighbour the new wallpaper.

So today I send her this posy, as she returns to spirit.

Thank you aunt Nini for all that you were, are and will always be to me ❤️✨ by @ferris.jay

Is it a common thing to remember exactly where you were when you heard of a loved one’s death?

I remember being 16 watching a film when two policemen came to tell me about my father.

I remember being 19 in bed with a cold when I heard about my mother.

And today, another scene joins them. Walking through the avenue of trees near my home and hearing
‘She’s gone.’

My aunt was more of a mother to me than my actual mother, she was the most solid, stable, and kind influence from my childhood.

As I think of how to say goodbye, I realize I’ve been saying goodbye for years as her light dimmed.

I wrote a longer piece today on this long goodbye and reflections of loss.

You can read the full piece on my free Substack, the link in my bio.

One of the qualities that has been with me for as long as I can remember is determination.

It has mostly served me well.

Today I am celebrating a small win that has greatly pleased Little Miss Determined.

For Little Miss Determined was oh so determined to grow nice things on her balcony.

However, her balcony was north facing and did not want to seem to oblige.

She tried pansies and watched buds determinedly stay shut and then rot.

She saw cyclamen fade away before her eyes.

She thought she was very cunning and tried mint, as mint is invasive and will grow anywhere and usually take over, but alas, even mint succumbed to the north face of doom.

She tried lamb’s lettuce, also meant to be tolerant of shade, which got white mold and perished.

But Little Miss Determined was not to be defeated.

She tried parsley (and mizuna). Whilst the mizuna is tiny and rather sulky looking, the parsley however, has done her proud.

As has the viburnum which is even about to flower again.

And that is a cause for celebration, however short lived.

And a reminder to anyone still reading, not to give up on your dreams.
It may take a few different approaches or workarounds, but keep believing.

Little Miss Determined also managed to find space to garden locally and has co-created a glorious garden there, (check out the F Squared Garden on Facebook) and is very happy that her gardening is not limited to the tiny north- facing balcony.

A great example of thinking outside the box to help your dreams come true. by @ferris.jay

Happy Equinox to all who celebrate it.

Whether you’re heading into Autumn or Spring, it’s a great day to give thanks to nature and to think about the balance in your life.

As we pause at the moment where night and day are equal, is that reflected in your own life?

Is there balance between work, rest and play?
Between the mind and the heart?

If not, what adjustments can you make to even things out do the different elements of your life are in balance and harmony?

For me, I need to honour my body’s need for more rest as I navigate a sinus flare.
And my body tells me clearly if I’m overdoing it.
I just need to listen ( and not push through ).

And equinox is the perfect time for such quiet listening and just being in the moment.

Today I’m celebrating the power of natural remedies 🌱🙌

I can be prone to sinus flares - and at the first signs I’m reaching for nature’s healers in addition to practices such as eft tapping, acupressure and qigong.

It’s time for ginger teas, steam inhalations, nurturing soups, self care and some extra rest.

In my qigong practice I’m doing more immune boosting breathing practices and meditations this week.

Whilst it isn’t fun when the body is facing challenges, I love how we have so many ways to support our body through those situations.

That’s what I’m celebrating today 😍
Natures allies and also being my own ally.

The food we eat, how we breathe and move, how we respond ( do we push through or take time to heal) and even how we think about it ( are we frustrated or upset or accepting and even curious about what will best help us ) - those things all shape how we recover and rejuvenate ✨

And they’re always just a choice away.

With love,

Ferris.
