🌊 40 Years of Stewardship! 🌊

The Smith Mountain Lake Water Quality Monitoring Program (SMLWQMP), a collaboration between Ferrum College and the Smith Mountain Lake Association, celebrated four decades of studying and protecting Smith Mountain Lake with a special dinner at Ferrum College on September 11.

Alumni and community volunteers joined past and present student interns, faculty, college officials, and sponsors to celebrate the program’s incredible history and look toward its future. The evening included special recognitions and reflections on the people and partnerships that have helped make this important work possible for 40 years.

Here’s to 40 years of collaboration, stewardship, and a commitment to the future of Smith Mountain Lake! 💛🖤

🎻🏆 Congratulations to our Ferrum College musicians!

This past weekend at the 19th Annual Hoppin' John Fiddlers' Convention in Pittsboro, NC, Ferrum College student Madison Cox earned third place by performing “Pretty Saro” in the folk song competition!

She joined two of her mentors, Emily Blankenship-Tucker and Rachel Blankenship-Tucker, in a trio they called the Ferrum College Roadshow. They placed second in the nontraditional band competition by performing the folk song “Wild Hog in the Woods.”
Congratulations to Maddie, Emily, Rachel, and Ferrum College!

Ferrum College proudly celebrated its 2026 Sports Hall of Fame class on Saturday, September 5, 2026, honoring seven former student-athletes whose accomplishments reflect the College’s tradition of athletic excellence and community leadership.

The day began with a morning Hall of Fame Ceremony on campus, where inductees were recognized for their achievements and impact both at Ferrum and beyond. Later, the new Hall of Fame members were honored at halftime during Ferrum’s home football game.

🐾 Forged at Ferrum: Ashton Lambeth ’20, ’21, ’25 is making history!

A former Ferrum College student-athlete and three-time alumna, Ashton is the first graduate of Ferrum College’s M.S. in Clinical and Counseling Psychology program to receive approval from the Virginia Board of Counseling as a Resident in Counseling.

Her journey from student-athlete to graduate and now counseling professional is a powerful example of what it means to be #FerrumRising. 💛🖤

Dr. Dana Ghioca-Robrecht, Data Scientist and Aquatic Ecologist, will report on her sabbatical project in the spring semester of 2026, analyzing 40 years of data from the Smith Mountain Lake Water Quality Program. All are welcome to attend for free.
