Here are 5 ways you can master fertility medication injections 💉
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💗 Store your medications properly – fertility medications are a large portion of our cost for treatments. Not storing them correctly is very important. Tip: have your fertility pharmacist or nurse write on each box refrigerate for you that requires it!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💗Understand which syringe and needle gauge is needed for each medication – the needle length and gauge do matter! Subcutaneous injections use a short thin needle to go underneath the skin’s surface and longer needles are needed to go in the muscle.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💗What to do if you miss a dose? Call your clinic right away! Some doses absolutely cannot be missed and others you may skip or “catch up” – Please try not to let this happen 😁
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💗How to track your doses and inventory – I have many tips and tricks for my patients! Use a tracker, cell phone alarms, and calendars!

Did you know some fertility meds don’t need to go in the fridge? Keeping your meds stored correctly is essential to their effectiveness.

💊 Here’s the quick breakdown:

✅ Store these in the fridge: Gonal-F, Menopur (after mixing), Cetrotide, Ovidrel (can be at room temp for up to 30 days)

❌ No fridge needed: Lupron (before mixing), Progesterone in Oil

What’s one fertility med you’ve been unsure about storing?

💊 Did you know you can ask for overfill doses on fertility meds?
Some fertility meds (like Gonal-F and Menopur) come with a little extra in each vial — enough to save you hundreds over time.

Here’s how:
✅ Ask your clinic if they allow you to use overfill doses.
✅ Track how much medication you actually use.
✅ Save the leftover doses and avoid buying extra vials!

Have you ever heard of this hack? Would you ask your doctor about it? 👇

💊Clomid, also known as the generic name clomiphene, tricks the body into thinking there is not enough estrogen by blocking estrogen receptors. This makes the body release GnRH, which in turn, tells the pituitary to release more FSH & LH. These hormones stimulate the ovaries and boost ovulation.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🙋🏼‍♀️Some side effects include hot flashes, bloating, weight gain, mood swings, headaches, and nausea. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💊Femara, also known as the generic name letrozole. Femara stops androgens in your body from converting into estrogen. When estrogen is blocked, the pituitary gland gets a message that it needs to produce follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which stimulates the ovary to produce an egg.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Letrozole is now considered to be the drug of choice for ovulation induction in women with PCOS.

Some side effects include dizziness, fatigue, headache, bloating, hot flashes.

The perfect prenatal is one of the first parts of your fertility journey, and so important!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When shopping around here a few things to consider:
✔Folic Acid - look for 400-800mcg
✔Iron ~27mg for women
✔Choline for brain development
✔Calcium for bone health
✔Omega-3’s - DHA & EPA
✔Look for NSF or USP Certified
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
NSF = National Science Foundation certified Good Manufacturing Processes. This ensures that what’s inside the bottle matches what’s on the Supplement Facts label.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
USP = U.S Pharmacopeia & is a nonprofit organization that sets the federal standards for drugs, dietary supplements, and foods.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In a perfect world, women would get all their nutrients from their diet. This is not always the case so it is very important that all women of childbearing age take a good quality prenatal.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💕see @babiesafter35 for a great resource on prenatal vitamins and folic acid!
