New on the VAP blog ✨

As part of the Visiting Artist Programme at @festivalddd in Porto, artist and co-founder of @lesidoles_collectif, Chandra Grangean (@chandra.grangean) reflects on four days of performances, workshops, discussions, and encounters with fellow artists from across Europe.

Over four days, she discovered inspiring performances, took part in workshops, explored Porto’s cultural landscape, and, most importantly, met artists from across Europe whose perspectives and experiences sparked meaningful conversations about artistic practice, working conditions, and the realities of making art today.

A “encruzilhada” que guiou o #DDD2026 foi também o espaço de pensamento não linear e de investigação cruzada de arquivo, proposto pela plataforma performingborders (@performingborders). ✍️

Nesta edição, com cocuradoria de Anahí Saravia Herrera (@anahi_saravia), Pedro Vilela (@pedro___vilela) e Xavier de Sousa (@xavinisms), a LAWN refletiu sobre os 10 anos do festival: os contextos que possibilitam o seu crescimento, as condições para a contradição e o que significa, para os espaços culturais, espoletar criação a partir do centro e da periferia. 🗺️

O resultado é um atravessamento de textos, memórias e referências para visitarem, perderem-se e recentrarem-se no link na bio. 💻

The “crossroads” that guided #DDD2026 also served as a space for non-linear thinking and cross-archival research, proposed by the performingborders platform, in LAWN. ✍️

In this edition, co-curated by Anahí Saravia Herrera, Pedro Vilela and Xavier de Sousa, LAWN reflected on the festival’s 10-year history: the contexts that enable its growth, the conditions for contradiction, and what it means for cultural spaces to spark creation from both the centre and the periphery. 🗺️

No último fim de semana do #DDD2026 e do Corpo + Cidade, cruzaram-se diferentes olhares sobre os espetáculos “Graus de dureza” de Laura Silva Barroso e “Fluxos” de Francisca Lima com estudantes do balleteatro, que, respetivamente, fizeram vibrar quem passava pelo Jardim do Passeio Alegre e pela Praça D. João I. 📸

Dessas interseções também se fez a edição da década do festival que percorreu os corações de Porto, Matosinhos e Vila Nova de Gaia. 🫶

Over the final weekend of #DDD2026 and Corpo + Cidade, different points of view converged on the performances “Graus de dureza” by Laura Silva Barroso and “Fluxos” by Francisca Lima, featuring balleteatro students, respectively, drawing crowds at the Jardim do Passeio Alegre and Praça D. João I. 📸

These intersections also shaped the festival’s 10th-anniversary edition, which ran through the hearts of Porto, Matosinhos and Vila Nova de Gaia. 🫶

Plantar no #DDD2026 para colher numa próxima edição ou noutros festivais: eis a lógica do DDD Próximo, que, numa manhã de segunda-feira, levou-nos ao TMP Café no #TeatroRivoli. 🌱

Porque um espetáculo começa muito antes de subir o pano, voltámos a criar espaço para o diálogo entre artistas, programadores e programadoras. Afinal, o desenho de um festival pode começar noutro festival ou na sua edição anterior. 💐

Sowing the seeds at #DDD2026 to reap the fruits in a future edition or at other festivals: this is the logic behind DDD Próximo, which, on a Monday morning, took us to the TMP Café at #TeatroRivoli. 🌱

Because a show begins long before the curtain rises, we have once again created a space for dialogue between artists and programmers. After all, the design of a festival can begin at another festival or in its previous edition. 💐

O #DDD2026 chegou ao fim, deixando dois espetáculos para sentir à flor da pele: “sensível” de Maurícia | Neves com Ana de Oliveira e Silva, Jo Castro, Mara Nunes & Vera Martins; e “How to kill…for the sake of dying” de Xana Novais.♟️

A sentença não podia gritar mais futuro: em “sensível”, o recomeço como possibilidade de fazer melhor; e, na segunda parte de “How to kill…”, a transgressão da própria performatividade. 🃏

#DDD2026 has come to an end, leaving us with two performances that really strike a chord: “sensível” by Maurícia | Neves, featuring Ana de Oliveira e Silva, Jo Castro, Mara Nunes & Vera Martins; and “How to kill…for the sake of dying” by Xana Novais.♟️

The verdict couldn't have been more promising for the future: in “sensível”, a fresh start as an opportunity to do better; and, in the second part of “How to kill…”, the transgression of performativity itself. 🃏

Do LAWN no #DDD2026, ficam mais do que os textos — disponíveis no Blog DDD —, fica a partilha proporcionada pelos dois momentos públicos que nos voltaram a sentar à volta da mesa, para (des)construir e inscrever o que pode a performance enquanto geradora de vestígios, memórias e narrativas. 📝

O caminho do DDD também tem sido feito à mesa, em roda, a percorrer arquivos e a enfabular o futuro. O que ele nos reserva? Que, pelo menos, nos voltemos a sentar muito em breve. 🫂

From LAWN at #DDD2026, what remains is more than just the texts – available on the DDD Blog – it is the sense of shared experience that came from the two public moments that brought us back together around the table, to (de)construct and articulate what performance can do as a generator of traces, memories and narratives. 📝

The DDD’s journey has also been forged around the table, in a circle, delving through archives and envisioning the future. What does it hold in store for us? That, at the very least, we will sit down together again very soon. 🫂

A ligação direta entre o #TeatroRivoli e o Palácio do Bolhão já é um clássico do DDD. E, no último sábado do festival, voltou a unir dois universos artísticos distintos, com “16 & 17”, do TAO Dance Theater, e “AXIOM CASINO”, de Jonathan Uliel Saldanha. 🐬

Duas formas de experimentação sonora e cinestésica, duas reflexões sobre a comunicação inter-humana e a sua manifestação no espaço. Como encontrar diálogo na diversidade do que assistimos? Talvez seja essa a magia do DDD. 🐉

The direct link between #TeatroRivoli and the Palácio do Bolhão has become a DDD classic. And, on the festival’s final Saturday, it once again brought together two distinct artistic worlds, with “16 & 17” by TAO Dance Theater and “AXIOM CASINO” by Jonathan Uliel Saldanha. 🐬

Two forms of sonic and kinesthetic experimentation, two reflections on human communication and its manifestation in space. How can we find dialogue amidst the diversity of what we witness? Perhaps that is the magic of DDD. 🐉

Arrancámos a segunda semana do #DDD2026, desafiando a gravidade e o sonho, com “Sonhos Comuns”, de Ana Rita Teodoro e “Hornfuckers”, de Diana Niepce. 🌬️

Se ainda se sentem a flutuar entre o Porto e Gaia, está tudo certo. Para prolongar essa suspensão, abram só um bocadinho os olhos e recordem o início de uma semana memorável do festival. ✨
