So you got to the very bottom of your renovation budget but someone needs to lay this kitchen floor! 🤷‍♀️
Guess who stepped up!?

Aimee had never worked with terracotta before, let alone the handmade irregular shape of these gorg tiles! It’s a lengthy process of dusting, sealing, sorting, laying, careful grouting and sealing again…but Aimee only went and smashed it 💪

What a hero. Thoughts and prayers for her recovering knees though 🫠 taken in North London by @fettleandtinker

So…we have some BIG news, and can’t keep it under wraps any longer! ✨

Life is about to change wildly, but it’s finally our time and we couldn’t be more ready and more grateful for this chance. 💖🥹

After what we’ve been through, we could barely breathe let alone celebrate for the first 12 weeks. But now we’re into our second trimester - it looks like we can say it’s really happening…and let the excitement in! 🌈

We can’t wait to meet you little one, joining us December 2026 ✨🧡🐣💘 taken in North London by @fettleandtinker

Nobody’s gonna know 🤫!

When our lovely plumber accidentally cracked the waste of our reclaimed avocado sink, we wanted to cry. But with Amanda’s obsessive research tendencies and Aimee’s fettler abilities we figured out a fix. 🩹And now it works perfectly…nobody would ever know! 🙌

1️⃣Epoxy putty on the cracked waste to fill the hole. Let it dry for 24hrs.
2️⃣Wide brass flange plate glued to the head of the brass waste insert, using clear silicon. The wider circumference of the plate covered the epoxy completely.
3️⃣ Adapted brass waste inserted and clear silicon to waterproof it around the perimeter of it.
BOOM💥

Works perfectly and an amazing bit of vintage sanitary ware rescued from the bin! ☑️☑️☑️

We could never bear to throw this gorg sink it away and our determination paid off! ❌🙅🏻‍♀️🗑️

Special shoutout goes to Darren69darren9 on eBay for his brass washer 🙌 taken in North London by @fettleandtinker

Ad | When you’re extending your home to gain more room, the last thing you want is to lose precious wall space to radiators.

That’s where @wunda_group Rapid Response®️ came in. Their easy to install underfloor heating system meant we could keep our kitchen walls free for functional, hardworking cabinetry while still having a warm, cosy kitchen through the colder months. And because we could lay the pipework ourselves, we saved a significant amount on installation costs too. We managed to lay ours over a weekend!

One less compromise and one more job we could tackle ourselves, and a much warmer kitchen to come home to. For once, we’re excited for winter in our house - it’s going to be so cosy! 🥰 taken in North London by @fettleandtinker

Ad | We just returned from the most special few nights away in Deal, Kent - for our little babymoon. 🩷

We stayed at @roguescottagedeal , a dog-friendly coastal retreat just a pebble’s throw from the seafront and a gentle meander to the high street, filled with excellent independent shops, coffee spots, restaurants and wine bars.

Deal is a foodie lover’s dream. We made our way between @therosedeal , @climpsonsdeal , @thezetlandkingsdown and @updownfarmhouse_ for some delicious eats.

We were lucky enough to have the most glorious September weather, spending the rest of our time doing very little beyond napping and chatting on the beach in the sunshine. 🌞

After months in the thick of house renovations, it was such a welcome change in pace to simply enjoy a few days together, embracing the quiet life before we enter our parenthood era. 🫣

We were drawn to Rogues Cottage because of its stunning interiors, from the vibrant paint colours and wallpapers to the gorgeous textiles, antiques and thoughtful details throughout. It’s the very definition of a cosy coastal cottage, with everything you could possibly need for a romantic little escape, pooch in tow. 🐾

Inside, there’s an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner, a well-equipped kitchen, dining nook and secluded garden. Upstairs, two spacious bedrooms are spread across two floors, alongside a statement bathroom with a copper tub and rainfall shower. We also discovered it’s family friendly, complete with travel cot - so we could plan a little return visit once baby has arrived!

A few days of sea air, good food, sunshine and absolutely no DIY…just what we both needed.

If you’re looking for a peaceful seaside getaway, where you’ll feel inspired, well-fed and rested - take a look at @roguescottagedeal ❤️🌊🐚🍦

Never felt magic crazy as this. ❤️

This week we reached the third trimester. The last stretch before we meet our little one 🥹

So as we’re finally nearing the end of this renovation, we’re also about to embark on our biggest project yet.

The day Aimee finished laying our kitchen floor - we took a moment to stop, slow down, and have a little dance to mark how far we have come. We never knew if we’d get to this moment but somehow here we are ❤️ taken in North London by @fettleandtinker

Part 5 of the Kitchen Extension diaries and this episode is frankly an ode to LOML Aimee. ❤️

She’s working all the hours in her day job, evenings and weekends to get this project over the line. She’s the most determined, hardworking person I know and thanks to her DIY skills we have come such a long way since the builders finished up almost a month ago.

There’s still plenty more to do but the engineered oak floors from @wooden_floorsuk have been laid, under floor heating installed , terracotta tiles are down and the under-stairs cloakroom is taking shape.

I did my best to help where I could , but the more pregnant I get, the harder it is to scramble around on the floor, and naturally Aimee won’t let me do very much 😅

This is our wildest year ever in the house as the clock is loudly ticking towards our new chapter as parents. 🕰️

Will we get all this done? Stay tuned for more! taken in North London by @fettleandtinker

What’s a pregnant hun to do…can’t nest cos house is upside down mid renovation? 🤔

Well nothing like good bedtime scroll on @vinted and a cheeky rummage through a sale to distract from all the chaos. Don’t mind me, just collecting small adorable things and hanging them up in her room. 🥰

No, they may not allll be practical, but they are all damn cute. So somebody stop me! ✨🥰

The Inpost Locker and Evri counter lady hate to see me coming 📦👀🤣

Ad | Don’t get me wrong, we loved the character of our original pine floorboards and enjoyed restoring them when we first moved in. But British winter in this Edwardian house is no joke! 🥶 So whilst we have kept the original boards upstairs, with a baby on the way, downstairs we need something much less drafty, easier to clean, that feels luxurious under foot. So we had a look around for the perfect Oak engineered flooring…

Enter Homeland Invisible Oak Engineered Floor in this gorgeous Matt Laquered finish from @wooden_floorsuk 🪵❤️

It is very close in colour to the whitewash treatment we gave our original boards and has the most beautiful understated character and grain. It just feels instantly elegant and warm as you come in.

It’s such a timeless choice, that we laid it throughout our ground floor. ✨ Now are actually looking forward to winter down here, with our newborn - it feels beautifully cosy already. ❤️
