Attention, pets and people who 'dig' the beaches in the off season:

From October 1 through March 31, four-legged friends are welcome to enjoy Fairfield's beautiful beaches, but with that privilege, comes a responsibility:

CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOG. EVERY TIME.

Animal waste can contain harmful bacteria and parasites, and when left on or buried in the sand, rain and tides can carry contamination into Long Island Sound, threatening water quality, marine life, and the health of families enjoying our shoreline.

Town Code §48-1 states that dog owners must immediately remove and properly dispose of their pets' waste on Town property (failure to do so can result in a $100 fine).

🐾 Bring a leash (Jennings Beach has an off-leash exception, for dogs under control).

🐾 Bring mutt mitts/waste bags and take responsibility for what your pet leaves behind.

🐾 Doo-ty calls: if you see (or smell) anything that needs our attention, give us a howl at 203 256-3177, or through the link in our bio. taken in Penfield Beach by @ffldcommunity
