@agrowingculture is a global media organization and this is their most recent coverage on the "Four Betters?" report we published in time for the Small Scale Fisheries Summit and the 37th Session of the FAO's Committee on Fisheries (COFI). The report was endorsed by @nyeleniforum @wamip.global @worldmarchofwomen @la_via_campesina_official @treaty_council @globalphm and supported by @etc_group_ @wearefoodrise @foe_int @transnationalinstitute @fianinternational and @icsf.1.

#repost @agrowingculture: Industrial aquaculture harms are increasing by the year.

But despite this fact, FAO’s Blue Transformation Programme incentivises the expansion and intensification of industrial aquaculture. For grassroots movements, the programme is only serving as a corporate blueprint.

🐟We do not need a Blue Transformation that makes corporations stronger and fishing communities weaker. A real transformation begins with fishers’ rights, their territories intact and food sovereignty. Fish should nourish communities before they nourish corporate supply chains.

@world_forum_of_fisher_peoples newest report reveals the dark threats of industrial aquaculture and the many ways communities are working to protect their territories and livelihoods. Read the full report at their link in bio or at fish4foodsovereignty.org and share it widely.

We are grateful to marine biologist, photographer and storyteller Sirachai Arunrugstichai (@shinalodon) for sharing his photos of unique fishing traditions from communities across Asia, the living cultures that embody the ecological relationships between man and biodiversity that are constantly under threat by Industrial Aquaculture. by @fianinternational

✊ **One step closer to ending corporate impunity!**
(link in linktree)

🌍 The 12th round of UN negotiations for a legally binding treaty on transnational corporations and human rights has concluded in Geneva, laying the groundwork for further progress in 2027.

After a week of intense discussions, States unanimously approved the Chair-Rapporteur’s concluding recommendations, paving the way for a new treaty draft, three thematic consultations and the 13th negotiating session in October 2027.

⚖️ **A major development:** The proposal for an international tribunal on transnational corporations and human rights gained momentum, with support from Cuba and Palestine and growing interest from other States.

Throughout the negotiations, the Global Campaign to Reclaim Peoples’ Sovereignty, Dismantle Corporate Power and Stop Impunity delivered more than 40 interventions, bringing the voices of affected communities and concrete legal proposals into the discussions.

💬 “This tribunal would be a checkmate on corporate impunity. It would deliver real access to justice for the communities whose lives, lands and livelihoods have been destroyed because of transnational corporations.”

— Juliette Renaud, Friends of the Earth France

Despite growing pressure for corporate deregulation, social movements and civil society remain determined to secure a strong, binding treaty that puts **human rights before corporate profits.**
