THE VERGE FIRST LOOK! 🌱

Get ready to meet botanist Claire Archer (Miriam Silverman) on her quest to create a new life: a plant unlike any that has ever come before in Susan Glaspell’s 1921 masterpiece THE VERGE!...By turns witty farce, devastating philosophical debate, and scathing feminist cry, this hidden American classic defies genre and pierces the bounds of theatrical realism. šŸŒ€

ā€œLike Claire’s plants, they may not be more sound or more pretty, but they are determined to be different from what has come before. How beautiful. How brave.ā€ —Director Jessie Austrian

Don’t miss your chance to experience this rarely produced, ahead-of-its-time classic, in partnership with Fiasco Theater. Performances begin Oct 27 at The Public! Get your tickets now: thepublic.nyc/Verge 🌱

This summer we had the pleasure of collaborating with Deaf West Theatre (@deafwest) for a one-week developmental workshop of ASL YOU LIKE IT at Mercury Store in Brooklyn. With a mix of thirteen d/Deaf and hearing actors, one stage manager, three interpreters, and Directors of Sign Language Alexandria Wailes and Andrew Morrill, we used the time as an incubator with radical experiments. It was such a gift to spend the time together and we’re hoping there will be more to share in the future!

If you can donate between now and the end of day on July 6th your dollars will be 2-to-1 matched. Triple your impact as each cent donated goes towards our exciting upcoming 2026/2027 Season! Give today with our link in bio!

We start off with THE VERGE by Susan Glaspell, produced in partnership with The Public Theater this Fall, then continue in the early winter of 2027 with the world-premiere of Crystal Finn’s THE STAND IN directed by Emily Young in partnership with WP Theater.

We are also shortly about to announce an expanded free training initiative happening this November while we are in residence at The Public, and many more projects in development.

This work is only possible because of the incredible loyalty and generosity of our supporters and partners, one of whom has announced a 2-to-1 matching grant in place through the end of this fiscal year. We’re happy to announce that this grant has been extended to July 6th.

We promise to put everyone of those dollars to good use, making dynamic, joyful, ensemble-driven art that we cannot wait to share with you soon!

What a year for us at Fiasco! This season has been filled with incredible growth -Ā  from simultaneous world premieres on different coasts, new work in-development, and joyful collaborations along the way.

It’s your support that has helped us bring these incredible works to the stage and will continue to do so.

Right now, we have a two-for-one grant from an anonymous donor, so every dollar you give until the end of the month will turn into three dollars. We promise that every one of those dollars will be put towards bringing these shows to the stage—both new works and old reimagined treasures. Please consider supporting Fiasco this month!

Now through June 30th, every dollar you give will be matched 2-to-1 by an anonymous donor—tripling your impact.Ā Help us turn $10,000 into $30,000 to support our artists, audiences, and students.

Since our founding in 2009, Fiasco Theater has had a dual-part mission — valuing both artistic productions alongsideĀ education programs, and this season we’ve achieved some new milestones.Ā We hope you’ll be able to help us continue this momentum.Ā  In addition to offering our multi-week classes on Shakespeare, Clown, and our PlayIGround workshop program this 2025/2026 Season,Ā Fiasco responded to student ideas in the form of two new exciting class offerings: 1)Ā Dynamic Ensemble Rehearsal Project and 2)Ā Free Training Initiatives - for Educators.

It is through our education offerings that we continue to cultivate a strong Fiasco community and join together under the shared artistic values! Thank you for being a part of our community.Ā

A Co-Production with Fiasco Theater
January 30 - February 28, 2027

Best friends, Claire and Claudia, try to make it BIG in the movies. But is there room for two stars? Or will one of them always have to be just…. ā€œThe Stand In?ā€ An absurdist romp through the madness of the artist’s journey and the toll it can take on what one holds dear. by @fiasco_theater
