This one was probably one of my favorites. After heating this plastic to its melting point, I can distort and merge other pieces together. I then run it under cold water to shock the plastic and solidify it. After it’s set it is exponentially stronger and thicker. Something I really enjoy about this one is the organic shape it took and how it has a glass like appearance. by @fiberfog

Plastic manipulation using heat. I’m really interested in the repurposing of waste, especially because there’s so much of it and it’s already a found resource. So I’ve been doing experiments testing the limitations of plastic when exposed to a different range of applied heat. I’m using these experiments to find a new use of plastic. by @fiberfog

A big ol’ pot of yarn. Today ladies and gentlemen I dyed 5 warps for my weaving II final project. I’m going for a scale of different indigo shades. It was a little harder to do because at Pepe the henna vat has been out of commission this quarter, so I worked with Ferris dye which is a bit more challenging to create a scale. None the less this is my progress so far! by @fiberfog

A post entirely dedicated to paper! Madness! First time paper making. It’s made from cotton linter. I’m focusing on the texture and the density of the paper, I placed a fern in one just for fun. I’m looking forward to experimenting with more materials to create paper :) by @fiberfog

Some recent hand dyed yarn for color and weaving exploration. I was challenged with working with reactive dye, I normally prefer natural. My goal in the dyeing process was to end up with an organic, natural, and coastal earthy finish. These colors are also in alignment with a class I am taking about innovative materials use with a large focus on the coastal environment of the Low Country. Such as marshes, swamps, beaches, rivers, and that murky water appeal. by @fiberfog
