A little something called love.
I am not one for most weddings, but it’s autumn, the trees are withering beautifully as they do and my high school friend played Elliott Smith while she walked down the aisle, radiant in her aura - I bawled.
Protect your love, honor it, cherish it—you are love and love is you. by @fickleseed

My heart and spirit are incredibly grateful for the antenna that art has always been and continues to be. I have already been blessed to work with many beautiful musicians on this journey of finding and sharing my first album, Humané. (still in pre-production for those wondering)
Along this process, it has always been paramount for me to find someone who would want to anchor down on learning and sharing this work with me from a personal place of shared tradition, cultural connection and dedication. About a month ago, @1800alba reached out in response to my very specific and particular “ISO guitarist” ad—soon after, I realized I had found not only a musical partner but a fellow Peruvian/Colombian sister in Alba Rios🌀
Los Apus y la Pacha nos trajeron juntas and we are so ready to make you all cry.

Here are some videos from our first show together last Saturday at the one-and-only, home away from home, @barzakh.cafe

Special thanks to @ocgv_sound for being that unexpected partner in co-creation these past two months. 🍂

This month, we’re bringing two acts to the TPF stage for a one-night-only celebration of Latin American music, @mariachireyesusa & @fickleseed (Linda Paúla Marcos) accompanied by Alba Rios.

Linda Paúla Marcos’ voice and words have a deep and viscerally tender resonance that arrests the listener into reflection, while evolving the tapestry of contemporary Latin American music rooted right here in Lenapehoking (New York City). Marcos’ music seamlessly harkens to towering legacies of legendary nueva canción and folk icons like Mercedes Sosa, Chabuca Granda, Soledad Bravo, and Atahualpa Yupanqui, preserving a vital, deeply emotional lineage of acoustic storytelling. Melding her Afro-Andean roots with a modern, New York-born perspective gives her music a rare and timeless weight that speaks directly to the current human experience. Marcos will be sharing original work from her upcoming album Humané and traditional work alongside guitarist, Alba Rios.

Alba Rios (@1800alba) is a multi-genre guitarist based in Brooklyn. Born in Lima and a proud immigrant, she projects her obsession with Peruvian music and the lament it lavishes with her traditional criollo style.

“Le pido al agua que me deje respirar” (“I ask the water to let me breathe”)

Singer-songwriter, Linda Paúla Marcos first sang these words while facing the ever flowing currents of the ocean. Words which now comprise the chorus of her song, Perdón. A song, Marcos says, was written to remind herself that forgiveness is for yourself.

For this session of Music Under the Tunnel, Linda Paúla Marcos and guitarist, Alba Rios share a track off of Marcos’ upcoming debut album Humané.

This powerful duo share this song and others live this Saturday 6pm at Barzakh Cafe.
With special guest Orlando Villarraga.
