This book really is smart AND funny.

I laughed out loud. I felt like this book was written by my best friend. The writing style is just SO cozy, familiar, and effortlessly funny.

I also loved the sister trope, and I really related to the whole family drama situation. I might have shed a tear or two. There it goes for all the big sisters who were put in the shitty situation of losing their youth to mother other people’s children 😙🤝

It’s been a long time since I was this sad to finish a book.

This was my fourth Emily Henry book. The last one (I don’t want to say which one — you guys guess! ) I DNF’d and gave one star. I enjoyed the other two, but this one is most definitely my favourite!

The only thing I didn’t exactly like was that I guessed the ending about 50 pages before it happened, but IT WAS PERFECT, so I loved it anyway.

Maybe… maybe I should become a book editor?!

The Road...Ohhh, this is a book I had to let sink in for a while before writing this review.

First of all, I feel like, for the first time, the Damage Report doesn’t do this book justice. It only scored a 47/70, but I feel like it’s worth more. I just couldn’t give it more within those categories. I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads, and I feel like that’s a good score for it.

I got really kind of sad after reading this book. The thing that did that to me was the childlike innocence and goodness. The book kind of *forced* me to look at myself and think really hard about when was the last time I did something good for someone, just because. Luckily, I was able to think of a few things, so that’s a plus. But is that the case with everybody? How fast would society really fall if a catastrophe happened?

One thing I really did hate about it, though, was WHY did they even travel during the winter?! If they wanted to get to their destination, WHYYY didn’t they just start traveling in early spring or something? Then they would have gotten there on time and wouldn’t have had to struggle so much with the weather conditions.

I enjoyed the book as much as one can enjoy depressing stuff. But the power of it hit me days afterwards, as I kept thinking about it.

I also watched the movie... I think it’s a good movie, but if you’ve read the book, you don’t HAVE to see it. It’s more... positive than the book is, and I think that takes away from the heaviness of the whole experience.

So, as always — just read the book. ;) by @fictionaldamagecontrol

Book haul! 🥰

It's my favorite book haul in the whole year. Every year with our anniversary, me and me husband buy books for each other. We go to our favorite local book shop and we haunt for each other. It's one of my favorite traditions of ours.

We're celebrating our 14th anniversary today. And no, we're not very old yet, we just got together very young 💕

Today's themes were: one book I KNOW you'll love & one book that sounds more like my kind of book, but something in it makes me think you'll love it.

So today I got Hemlock & Silver and You Weren't Meant to Be Human. And I got my hubby Slow Gods and Solace House.

Another ACOTAR book, and the second-to-last one. Everyone warned me that this was the worst one. And while I do agree that it was basically the equivalent of a “beach episode” or a “Christmas special”, I still actually enjoyed reading it. And it was a quick read, most importantly.

I don’t know how or why this happens, but I usually struggle through this author’s books for quite a while. They’re just... uncomfortable to hold? Maybe it’s the edition I have? 😂

Anyway, pretty decent book. Not a whole lot happened, but we got to see all the characters together again, in their own little cozy circle.

But oh my god... that ending... I honestly don’t know what to think about it. I usually absolutely HATE this particular trope/topic in books, but maybe... just maybe... let’s keep our fingers crossed that Ms. Maas did it better?

I’ll be picking up the last book soon.

I put off writing this review for quite a while. Is it because I don't really have anything good to say about this book? Probably... very likely! 😅

I don't like giving bad ratings, let alone writing bad reviews, so I'll keep this one short.

This book was just really not for me. I didn't like it from beginning to end. I didn't warm up to a single character (hehe), and in my opinion, the plot was practically nonexistent.

I'm really sorry, but I just REALLY didn't like this one. 😭

And that's where I'll end my little rant. by @fictionaldamagecontrol
