What a good time with my brother @slickshep and the @tunafishingcompany crew! Thank you @rambling.riah for always supplying the stoke! Roosters, Jacks, Snapper, Cabrilla…what else did we catch?! I got my butt kicked by two Jacks on the fly in 30 minutes. Texas coast, you magnificent beauty! We didn’t score the wind we were hoping for, but we ate our hearts out on friend and family time with an amazing menu of oysters & redfish thanks to our old amigos @bigtreeoysters and @blackduckskiffs. This is the second 100 year flood in under ten years we’ve seen in Llano. Our hearts go out to the families that lost loved ones. Tragic. First photo is Llano bridge, second is River in front of our house where my brother @tourmalinetodd held down the fort and is fine. For reference, the river is usually in the 300’s CFS on average, it was raging 100,000+ CFS yesterday. Third and fourth photos are the controversial (if you ask me) CR 103 bridge, built to withstand heavy flooding, now impassable. Last photo is water receding. by @fiddlefish

First rooster on the fly (and second) at my favorite place on earth! This time of year, the water clears up and cools off. We don’t catch many fish, but those that decide to dance are usually quality largemouth. One of my favorite things in life is sharing a day with a good old friend on a skiff on the Texas flats. The conversations with Seth over the decades we’ve been friends have covered everything under the sun and meandered off into other galaxies. We get lost in thoughts, then suddenly we spot a tail, focus for a moment and bring a fish to hand to admire its salty shimmer. The whole experience is a beautiful thing and never gets old. Seth has one of those brilliant minds that is always tweaking, refining and exploring and he is building some amazing skiffs that deliver us way back to the far side of nowhere where the magic happens.
