💚We are thrilled to welcome back long-time friend and collaborator @tabby.booth.artist for her special solo exhibition, Of Myth and Moor, opening TODAY!💚

This wondrous collection of fourteen original works is a visual love letter to Dartmoor. Presented in antique frames and featuring gold leaf for the first time, Tabby’s signature silhouettes beautifully blur the line between natural history and folklore, bringing together the moor’s real wildlife with its spectral inhabitants.

Gallery opnes at 10:00 AM today as does our Online Tabby Booth shop -Perfect if you can’t make it to Dartmoor! (Link in bio)

✨Opening Celebration: Join us this afternoon from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM to celebrate, with Dartmoor songs by Ashburron folk musician @timpowelljones. As ever, everyone is very welcome. See you there! ✨

As a long-time friend and collaborator of @field.system , we are absolutely delighted to welcome @tabby.booth.artist back for this special solo exhibition.

Of Myth and Moor is a collection of fourteen original works inspired by the wildlife and folklore of Dartmoor. Presented in antique frames, these pieces bring together creatures that can be found on the moor today alongside the spectral visitors and local legends that haunt its history. Known for her striking signature silhouettes, Tabby’s work beautifully treads the line between contemporary illustration and traditional folk art, incorporating gold leaf for the first time to represent the magic of our local landscape. (We are trying to keep a lid on these wonderful new paintings but couldn’t resist sharing The Immortal Adder with you!)🐍

📣Tabby Booth | OF MYTH & MOOR📣

🖤We are so very delighted to announce @tabby.booth.artist ‘s return to @field.system with a solo exhibition of new, bespoke artworks. 🖤

‘Of Myth and Moor’ is a collection of fourteen original works inspired by the wildlife and folklore of Dartmoor. Presented in antique frames, the pieces bring together creatures that can be found on the moor today and those that, depending on who you ask, can still be found there too. Snakes and slugs sit alongside spectral visitors and local legends, blurring the line between natural history and folklore.

✨Several works also incorporate gold leaf for the first time, representing the magic of a landscape where fact and fiction live side by side.✨

The exhibition runs form 27 June - 25 July. Join Tabby to celebrate the opening of the exhibition on Saturday 27th June 4-6pm…everyone very welcome!

A tradition like no other! 🍻🍞

Last Saturday we had the privilege of taking part in one of Ashburton’s oldest and most unique customs: the annual Ale Tasting and Bread Weighing ceremony!

Dating back centuries to ensure fair standards for locals, the official Ale Tasters and Bread Weighers visit local inns and bakeries to inspect and sample the town’s best produce. Any establishment that passes the rigorous testing gets rewarded with a sprig of evergreen as a mark of quality. ✨

We love a crowd… at a gig or a workshop, joining in discussions, or taking part in anything we do - @field.system is about bringing folk together.

So, as we head seaward to the @sidmouthfolkfestival for our 𝒦𝐼𝒯 𝐼𝐼 exhibition, we aren’t just bringing an exhibit; we are also bringing discussion, music, ceremony… and skills! We have invited a brilliant gang of artists, makers, performers, thinkers, and doers for a series of talks, workshops, and gatherings. Come and be part of our crowd!

Last Chance: @tabby.booth.artist ’s Of Myth and Moor… Running until Sunday 26 July 2026✨

Time has flown by, and we are nearing the final days of Tabby Booth’s enchanting solo exhibition, Of Myth and Moor, a beautiful collection of 14 original paintings, each housed in a curated antique frame.

While deeply rooted in the haunting beauty of Dartmoor, these works transcend the local landscape to evoke timeless, universal themes. Be sure to visit before we say our final goodbye to the show where snakes and slugs sit alongside spectral visitors and local legends, blurring the line between natural history and folklore.🍄

While much of the show has already sold, all these beautiful original works are still for sale and we have a few signed prints available to buy too. See bio for our online shop. 🖤

The @museumofroadsidemagic is rolling into Devon for @sidmouthfolkfestival this August. Joining our friends @field.system at The Dissenters Hall for the second turning of their smash hit exhibition of folk vestments - Kit!

The @museumofroadsidemagic will be open to explore on Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd - at Blackmore Gardens

And you can catch our famous Teatime Pageant on Sunday 2nd , at the Dissenters Hall

𝙇𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙚, a new analogue photography and moving image project by @hubbacouture (Dr Kirsty Smith), asks what happens when a skate spot becomes folklore, and how much of that myth was built by the camera.

📣Something is stirring on the shoreline📣

𝒦𝐼𝒯 𝐼𝐼: 𝒜 𝒞𝑒𝓁𝑒𝒷𝓇𝒶𝓉𝒾𝑜𝓃 𝑜𝒻 𝒞𝑜𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓂𝓅𝑜𝓇𝒶𝓇𝓎 𝐹𝑜𝓁𝓀 𝒞𝓁𝑜𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑔

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our next exhibition, KIT II, will run from Friday 31st July to Friday 7th August at the legendary @sidmouthfolkfestival in South Devon!

This is the second iteration of our KIT exhibit, bringing back some beloved relics alongside never-before-seen pieces.

KIT II is a living archive of garments and artifacts used for ritual, resistance, and reclamation. The show explores how the things we stitch, weave, and wear can express deep identity, belief, and cultural belonging in the modern day. It is an invitation to look closer at the fabric of our personal mythologies, acts of resistance, and collective unity.

This iteration features the extraordinary works of @boss.morris , @libby.bove.arts , @lucy_j_wright , @man.in.the.woods , @mayqueencrafts for @angelcakepie2 , @tamsin_wilson , the @bentwoodfest wardrobe by @theoclinkard , and @wessex_hag .

And that is not all… We will be hosting live talks, hands-on workshops, and all manner of events with @field.system friends throughout our week at Sidmouth, more details soon!

Join The Folk Union and Field System at Sdimouth Folk Festival for an open folkmoot discussing the cycle of folk revivals, how they come about, what drives them and the generational gaps between them.

The event takes place at 5pm on 1st August 2026 in The Dissenters Hall as part of the Sidmouth Folk Festival 2026. It is an open discussion rather than a talk and we invite people to ask questions, raise issues and make comments throughout.

As well as our visual and literary offerings, we are extremely excited to let you know about our upcoming gigs… (tickets via link in bio)

We’re bringing some unmissable musicians to Ashburton during summer and autumn, beginning on Sat 25 July in the Field System gallery with one of our intoxicating, intimate performances, courtesy of @ellla_paul - local singer of traditional and contemporary folk. These tiny gigs are always moving and very memorable. Tickets are very limited, so move quickly to be part of this special evening.

On Fri 18 September at St Lawrence Chapel, @themorleyconsort presents an early evening concert exploring the history of Devon - from King Arthur to Viking raids, civil war and climate change - performing music on historical instruments with narrations from period first-hand accounts (funding from the Continuo Foundation).

Our wonderful, inimitable friends @lunatraktors bring an entirely different flavour to St Lawrence Chapel on Sat 3 October. Virtuosic, irreverent, delightfully familiar, but somehow entirely unlike anything else we’ve heard.

Back in the gallery for another deeply personal show with the brilliant @elanor.moss . This will be Elanor’s second show in our space, and her most westerly UK performance before she heads off to the US.

Ready yourselves for our second Halloween extravaganza @things.happen.here on Sat 31 October, wigging-out with psych rock wizards @rameagle69 and DJ’s to be announced. 2025’s party was incredible, and Field System’s Halloween ‘26 is set to be legendary (with fancy dress prizes)!

Milly and I have decided our winter merrymaking will start very early this year, when @goblin.band come to St Lawrence Chapel on Sun 22 November. These beautiful souls deliver a charismatic and unruly alternative expression of English traditional music both riotously joyful and deeply sincere. Do not miss this rare chance to catch them at a venue which seems to have been built for them.

And if 2026 hasn’t worn you out, just wait for 2027, when we have @angelcakepie2 coming to play. More on that fabulousness closer to the time…

Fittingly for this, the hottest of days, we have just taken delivery of a VERY limited amount of The Idyllegy written by @thomassharp and illustrated by @will_of_margaret

A longform pastoral poem ‘rippling with sensuality’, it looks back fondly on their 2024 literary lecture and magickal rituals enacted to raise Pan🐐

This exclusive first pressing of 100 is signed by Thomas Sharpe and Will of Margaret, features a beautiful foiled cover, an elegant ribbon marker, and an exclusive artwork postcard by Will of Margaret.
