Branding with a playful yet soft touch to @maplenchaicookieco by @fieldnformstudio

This design utilises a bold red-on-black palette to create immediate tension and visual impact, drawing from grunge and brutalist aesthetics. The oversized “ESCAPISM” headline, treated with distortion and layering, establishes a strong hierarchy while conveying a sense of psychological unease. Supporting typography, such as “RUN … AWAY … FROM … REALITY,” uses spacing and fragmentation to reflect disconnection and hesitation.

The layout follows a structured grid, with framed imagery anchoring the composition. The central image of a solitary figure acts as the emotional focal point, while supporting visuals add narrative depth. Grunge textures and distressed overlays introduce rawness, breaking the rigidity of the layout and enhancing the theme of decay and escapism. Additional graphic elements like crosses and circular motifs contribute to a subtle dystopian tone, reinforcing the idea of control and artificial reality. by @fieldnformstudio

Poster art - Alone. This poster embodies a restrained yet emotionally charged approach to graphic design, where minimalism meets subtle brutalist influence. The composition is intentionally sparse anchored by a stark off-white background, a bold red circle, and a solitary seascape; allowing the oversized “ALONE” typography to dominate both visually and conceptually. The layering effect of the text introduces a sense of movement and psychological distortion, reinforcing themes of isolation and introspection. The use of red as the primary accent colour injects tension and urgency, contrasting with the calm, almost desolate ocean imagery below. Paired with poetic, reflective copy, the design moves beyond aesthetics into narrative, evoking a quiet confrontation with solitude, self-awareness, and the human condition. The photograph itself was taken by me in Esperance during a road trip, grounding the conceptual piece in a real, personal moment of stillness and reflection.

Venture - A textured, vintage-style travel poster featuring Yallingup’s rugged coastline, framed by bold “VENTURE” typography. The muted tones, grain, and fold effects create a raw, exploratory feel, while the layout blends adventure branding with editorial storytelling, positioning Western Australia as wild, calm, and deeply immersive.

This poster sits at the intersection of #editorialdesign and modern #brutalism , using restraint and tension to create impact. At first glance, the design is driven by typography as the main visual force. The bold red, all-caps type immediately commands attention particularly “OUTSKIRTS,” which anchors the composition and gives the piece a strong, almost confrontational presence. This is balanced by “RURAL #westernaustralia ” stacked in a block format that reinforces structure while still feeling heavy and grounded. The use of red against the muted, textured background creates a sharp contrast, guiding the viewer’s eye without relying on excessive imagery.
The layout, interestingly, plays with hierarchy. Instead of a traditional top-down reading flow, the design invites the viewer to explore moving from the date markers (“NOV — DEC”), to the headline, then into the body text, and finally landing on the image and the word “OUTSKIRTS.” This slightly unconventional flow adds to the raw, brutalist feel while still maintaining readability.
The texture is a key component. The worn, paper-like background and visible creases give the poster a tactile, almost archival quality—like something pulled from a zine or an old travel print. This contrasts nicely with the clean, modern typography, creating a dialogue between past and present.
The black-and-white image grounds the design in realism. It feels documentary-like, capturing a quiet, rural moment that complements the narrative about Yallingup. By keeping the image monochrome, it doesn’t compete with the red typography but instead supports the overall tone: subtle, reflective, and slightly nostalgic.
Conceptually, the poster communicates exploration and distance. Words like “OUTSKIRTS” and “RURAL” paired with the open landscape imagery evoke a sense of escape, moving away from urban centres into something more raw and meaningful. The inclusion of the Yallingup text adds depth, shifting the piece from purely visual to something more cultural and reflective.
Overall, the #design is intentional, bold, and grounded; it doesn’t try to over-explain itself. Instead, it relies on strong typographic choices, material texture. by @fieldnformstudio
