Poor Lucian… he is really the one who deserved better.

Cuz he was SO GOOD!! He was the only interesting part of ACOTAR for two hundred pages!!

And then he just gets boring. Just gets turned into a shell of a character following at Tam’s feet. I think Tamlin got done dirty too but Lucian’s is so tragic!

I think this is my biggest struggle with ACOTAR (mainly book 1) because I feel like SJM was going in one direction, and then she changed her mind.

And I get it! It happens! She’s allowed to! Sometimes you don’t control what characters decide to walk onto the page (despite being the author). Buuuuutt… I wish she’d just made it make a little more sense. Because Rhysand is 100% the villain in book one. That man is cruel and manipulative and cruel and savage and cruel.

(Did I mention he’s cruel?) he’s an AMAZING villain! And I feel like somewhere UTM Sarah J Maas started changing her mind, and then in book two was just so done with Tamlin that she’s just like, “how can I kick him to the curb as fast as possible?”

She does Tamlin so dirty.

I think he always deserved better, from Feyre, from the author, and from us readers. Cuz we really love justifying everything Rhysand does, and judging everything Tamlin does.

Anywho. Stick around for more ACOTAR series rants and I blaze through this reread.

How’s the ACOTAR reread going, you ask??

Bout like this. 😂

Some of the best moments from like an hour of content (most of it ranting) whilst reading this book. I think this sums it up nicely 😂😂

I may have… miscalculated. 🫣

Send help. Idk how I’m going to finish in time! Short answer: I won’t. I’m doomed.

I’ll be lucky if I finish A Court of Mist and Fury.

Also, get ready for ACOTAR video content like… every day 😂 I have a backlog of videos from book 1 reread.

It’s FINE everything’s FINE

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go power read 2,200 pages in two weeks.

ACOTAR reread!! Can you tell I’m so excited? 😬😬

But seriously I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t want to on some level. Book one Josh doesn’t feel like SJM, but I gotta remind myself of her writing timeline.

AND, I’m really interested in following Tam and Rhys and figuring out why we go from loving Tam to hating him, and hating Rhys to loving him, and if it’s all justified. Or if it’s Feyre’s unreliable narration (the girl is ALL over the place!!)

So stay tuned! Or don’t 🤷🏼‍♀️ you can keep scrolling too. There will be chaos involved in the rest of this reread. And I’m very much a “SJM did Tam dirty” train and “Rhys is definitely a villain” train (doesn’t mean we can’t still love him) but I think he’s a liiiiiiiiitle overrated.

We shall see if the reread sways my opinion, or solidifies it!

The chapter none of us were prepared for….

❗️(Threshing Day spoilers) ❗️

I will never not be ok.

We all expected Liam to ruin us, but the Rebecca Yarros comes in with Sloane and takes us all out with a ton of bricks.

Because first, this girl is showing up to Threshing, her only goal to meet Malek.

THEN Dain breaks Codex by intervening and saving her life. Can we pause on the fact that she purposely puts herself in front of an angry dragon??

Then a voice. And a red dragon approaches. A RED dragon! She comes slowly, softly, gently, and lays her head on the ground. LAYS HER HEAD ON THE GROUND!! Do you understand how monumental this is in the world of dragons??

And OF COURSE this dragon is Deigh’s sister. The only one in Threshing who understands Sloane’s pain.

Because she lost her family too…

By the time the chapter ended, we had all been reduced to a pebble of tears.

And all I can say, is none of us are going to survive book four…

I was NOT PREPARED for the emotional devastation in Threshing Day 😭😭😭

Starting Threshing Day: 😁✨🥰 this is going to be so magical and look awwww it’s baby Brennan and Yasss Mira and *squeal* over Garrick “say the word” Tavis and you go Sawyerrrrr and then

shot to the heart with Liam but NOOOO Rebecca wasn’t done yet because

SHE FREAKIN BROUGHT THE CANNON BRIGADE WITH SLOANE!!

All of us leaving Threshjng Day like we just left a friendly game of dodgeball turned full out war, with re-opened wounds and a dangerously suspicious obsession with getting repeatedly blasted by fire on a silly little website while we make bonding a dragon our entire personality and tuck characters into our emotional marsupial pouch while snarling at Rebecca that she cant HAVE them because we have to protect them because they MUST LIVE!

REBECCCCAAAAAAAAAA 😩😩🤕💔❤️‍🩹

Wahooo!!! Took me three tries but bonded a Green on the fourth!!

How’s everyone else doing??

Gotta say, getting incinerated more than one sure does shake the confidence that you’d be able to survive Threshing in real life. I was beginning to doubt my ability to be a dragon rider.

And yes, Steve, we do constantly think about real world scenarios from our favorite books! And we do try to bond a dragon on a “silly” little dragon website! You can go stuff yourself. Plus, you’d never survive threshing, so there 😋

Reading Threshing Day has me ALLLLLL in my feels and excitement and freaking out over info dropped!!

Also, I just freaking love these dragons! Every single one of them is just… 🤌🏻🤌🏻. It’s so good!! I don’t even know who’s POV I liked best because I loved all of them!! Getting to see the cast of characters as scared and nervous first years, what they’re going through at the time, a little snippet into their mind and their past was just delightful.

Liam didn’t make me cry, but Sloane did. Aaric is waaaay more savage than we think he is and Garrick and Imogen’s dragons have some SUSPICIOUS things happening that has left me reeling cuz omg I want to know WHYYYY!!

Rebecca Yarros has done it again! 👌🏻 I’m here for it!

How’s the ACOTAR reread going you ask??

I can’t get over the fast that this is based on Beauty and the Beast which makes Rhysand Gaston and now I’m chuckling to myself cuz that kinda fits perfectly and now his image in my head has been forever altered 😂😂😂

Other than that, I have notes. 😎 but that’s to come!

Currently still dying over the image in my head. I can’t unsee it!

Why I came and why I stayed!

These are some of my favorite series, buuuuuut some of them I definitely stayed only for certain characters/aspects 🤷🏼‍♀️ just how the cookie crumbles!

But I do/did enjoy all these and would recommend them to anyone who wants to pick up a fantasy!

If you’ve read these, what made you stay?
