We haven’t posted photos here in a very long time and I’m so very sorry! There’s always a little bit of guilt in having to take an unannounced break from posting, but between our jobs, buying a house, redecorating said house (very much a work in progress), and keeping the two boys happy & fulfilled, social media has very much slid to the bottom of our priority list. In fact, I haven’t even had time to edit those photos we took during our Isle of Skye trip in the summer, so all I have to share are pictures from before then..! We’ll try to pick things up here whenever possible but in the meantime, we’ll continue to share stories when we can so you can all get your Rohan & Saffron updates. It’s been a week since we moved into our house and the boys are nicely settled in now and loving it! 😍 The garden is still their absolute favourite thing about it, and they spend as much time out there running around as they possibly can. Dog mum and dog dad have spent quite a bit of time already on planning and redecorating the indoor spaces, and we can’t wait to see what it all looks like in a few months’ time! taken in Comrie by @fifeaussies

It’s been just over a year since we packed up all our worldly belongings (and the dogs’, which were far more numerous) and flew halfway across the world to start a whole new chapter of our lives in Scotland. And now we turn over yet another new page… Tomorrow, the boys are getting their very own backyard (with a few indoor areas for their dog beds, because why not 🤷🏻‍♀️). That’s right, we’re moving! The courses are definitely getting more technical now, but dog dad and Rohan are always up for a good challenge. Okay, it’s story time! It took me *six* months to get Rohan seen by a dentist specialist… Six months where he wasn’t interested in playing tug for more than a few seconds at a time and would sometimes shake his head and rub his tongue along his teeth. It was so incredibly obvious to me that he was experiencing some kind of discomfort, but the general vet dismissed it twice (“it’s fine, there’s no pulp exposed on his chipped teeth”) before they offered to x-ray him (under general anesthesia) in order to refer him so he could get treated (again under general anesthesia) by a specialist. I’m not a fan of putting my dogs under for no good reason, so I pushed back on that and eventually convinced them to refer him on the basis of discomfort/pain without doing their own (useless) evaluation. Let’s just say, it was an uphill battle but it was very much something I was holding my ground on. Well, guess what… When he finally did see a dentist, they found several uncomplicated crown fractures (chipped teeth). The dentist smoothened them out and sealed them, and explained they could have been causing discomfort, sensitivity, or cutting into his tongue. He is so clearly feeling MUCH better now, a week or so on from the procedure. He’s tugging like he hasn’t done for months and so much more playful. You can just tell he’s in a better mood because his mouth isn’t constantly bothering him! This is just to say to all of you, dog owners, that *you* know your dog best. Was it frustrating to advocate for my dog for so long and have to climb an uphill battle to see a specialist? Yes! Did the vet make me feel like I was crazy at times, when they brushed my concerns aside? Sure was. Was it worth it? Absolutely! Rohan had been experiencing some tooth pain and we finally managed to get him booked in with a canine dentist (it was a long and painful process!). He had a dental procedure done which required a long trip to a specialist vet clinic and general anaesthesia. Because of this vet visit, however, we were meant to wait some five or so hours around the East Lothian area. We decided to spend the day exploring some beautiful local sights with Saffron. Our absolute favourite stop was @histenvscot Dirleton Castle, where the ancient cellar had some absolutely epic lighting! So of course, we had to pose him for some dramatic photos - here is my favourite. And by the way, don’t worry, Rohan is feeling better already and has had some tooth fractures smoothened and sealed! 🦷 He even got a complimentary clean too. taken in Dirleton Castle by @fifeaussies

The boys had a fantastic trip 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and now I have a lot more photos to edit over many, many future weekends. I am so looking forward to sharing these on here! In the meantime, here are some agility pictures of our speedy red boy! 💨 I know that nowadays Instagram’s preferred format is video, but photography really has always been our greatest passion and so we will continue to post beautiful photos of our dogs more so than anything else, and hope that there are still photo fans out there to appreciate them. ☺️ There’s no point adapting to a platform’s changing preferences if it’s not what we enjoy doing anyway! by @fifeaussies

Finally on my way back to the boys after so many weeks of almost nonstop travel, and guess what? We’re going travelling! 🤣 But at least we’re all doing it all together this time, and there are no flights involved. Next week, we’re going on a road trip to the Isle of Skye, right at the northernmost tip of Scotland! A #throwbackthursday post to the day we took the boys to visit their mum’s ‘alma mater’. It felt pretty special to take them to Oxford, even if I know that they have zero idea of the significance of the visit. Rohan was on 🔥 this weekend for the Granite City agility show! He came away with two second places 🥈on Saturday and three first places 🥇 today! He only needed one more agility win to move up to Grade 3 but he felt good and decided to win up in STYLE! 💅 To celebrate, here are some (well overdue) photos of him with his favourite custom @wildatheartpetcompany agility toys! by @fifeaussies
