The Revelation of Dionne Daphne by Mara Brock Akil

Book 95/? of 2026

A Goodreads review aptly said it is one of those books that you don’t get what’s happening until it’s too late.

Favourite book of the year. I felt like I was on the journey with her. I didn’t realise I was holding my breath until she found out the important news.
Would definitely recommend. However, if you’re someone for whom certain subjects are sensitive, I’ve put the trigger warnings on the final page. by @fifeo2

Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage by Belle Burden

The book that had everyone talking.

It is an expansion of her NYT Modern Love essay entitled 'Was I Married to a Stranger?'

I really enjoyed this book. Must read for all women, even if you think 'it could never be me'.

Recommend this for people who enjoy memoirs and the Real Housewives, lol

Indigo by Beverly Jenkins

When I was in Japan earlier this year I went down a Beverly Jenkins rabbit hole. I've always known she is an icon and after the Reese's (Witherspoon) Book Club podcast with Kennedy Ryan, Tia Williams and Beverly Jenkins I knew I had to read her books. Beverly Jenkins is undefeated in how she intertwines romance and history.

Recommend for romance lovers who enjoy a bit of history.

One of the best meals I’ve had in recent. Maybe it’s the high of Japan but when I saw the menu, I knew I had to have it. The sando and bone marrow ? the picanha steak?? The yuzu zabaione???

One of my favourite restaurants is Carousel. They typically have a guest chef every week, that I’ve usually never heard of but leaving feeling obsessed. Yoji was no different.

Yoji Tokuyoshi is a Japanese chef based in Italy. He mentioned that he is considering opening a restaurant here next year. & I’ll be there the first week. by @fifeo2

Whew, the pictures speak for itself. The food was exquisite. The experience is Omokase style (chef choice), so they don’t share the menu till after. The food was great and the service even better.

Truly a uniquely Japanese dining experience. Kashiwaya is a traditional Ryotei restaurant. Shoes off, Sukiya private dining style room for each party, staff in kimonos.

Favourite was the Atsu-mono and the Mizu-mono

Don’t think I’ve ever experienced service like this. They even accompanied us downstairs and waved until we were out of sight 🄹

First post for the restaurant that prompted me to start this page.
Heard the Michelin Guide recommendation and had to see for myself. A surf n’ turf restaurant based in King’s Cross.

Recommendations :
Garlic & Seaweed butter bread (so good, I’ve tried to recreate it at home)
For your first time get the Mixed Grill (the perfect intro)
