Kristoffer Ala-Ketola and AJ Fusco are a Finnish-American artist couple based in Helsinki. They both work in visual arts and are showing their first duo exhibition at Galleriaia titled “Innards”. The exhibition deals with interiority and the grotesque through painting and sculpture.

Their week in pictures guides us through the installation process and other preparations for the exhibition.

Day 1: Our assistant Pepe @pepepomaweenie guarding the works at Kristoffer’s exhibition “The Moon Watches Back” at Café Bar no 9 @cafebarno9, on view until 28.3.2025.

Day 2: Preparing artworks for shipping. Thanks for the van @postbarhelsinki <3

Day 3: Galleriaia’s curator Niklas Hallman @dr.lep stacking up beers for the opening event.

Day 4: So many options! The exhibition consists of 22 artworks so determining their placement in the space was difficult but very rewarding.

Day 5: AJ hammering some nails. We carefully considered the installation, as we didn’t want the works to be in a straight line but rather as clusters on the wall, with both of our works mixed together.

Day 6: AAAAAND WE’RE FINALLY DONE!!!

Day 7: The opening is finally here! Welcome to see the exhibition at Pengerkatu 22 until 13.4. The artists will be present at the gallery on Saturday 15.3. (tomorrow) at 13–17.

What are Innards to you in the context of this exhibition?

K: ”The physical innards of a person or something deep hidden mental things. Metaphorically speaking, something abject that oozes out from within… Like maybe it could be a burst of emotion like a sudden feeling of failure, doubt, or indecision. – Maybe a cold you feel in your bones, and a resent that you don’t show.”

AJ: ”Not so much literal guts. More like interiority in an abstract sense, but just as messy and goopy.”

Exhibition opening
Date: 13.03.
Time: 17:00
Where: Galleriaia, Pengerkatu 22

Finally completed the pilgrimage to @hr_giger_museum to celebrate my 40th with @kristofferalaketola and @pure_moods. Most of these paintings are colossal and hard to photograph so here are some details of my favorite little freaks. 666 stars out of five 🌀🤯 by @fifteensnakes
