Congratulations Students!
Class 12 is in the books, the second-to-last class of the year. I truly had an awesome time with these students. I wish I had more photos and videos to add here. M.U.G.E.N is such an amazing way to step into coding, graphic design, internet safety, computer configuration, animation, debugging, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and so much more.

Summer Game Design Camp might be over, but the time I shared with my students will last forever — and these photos and videos capture it all! Let’s goooo! 🎮✨

Our last week at Carden School of Fresno wrapped today — and these kids went crazy building their own 2D fighting games using real coding tools. 🧠💻 From designing characters to solving problems like devs, they leveled up big time! 💥

1-Week Summer Camp with my 9 students was a success! All ages, everyone worked as a team — just like FighterZ Students always do. We worked through conflicts and finished our MUGEN fighting game by programming characters, building stages, adding music we love, and designing our main menu with a title that shows each FighterZ Student’s creativity.

This 1-Week Summer Game Design Camp was definitely a blast! We’ll be back in August and September for our next classes, and we have one more class with Carden in July.

Happy Thursday night, Fighters Fam! 🎮🔥

We’re about 10 days late posting the September calendar, but that’s okay! 😂 The first half of the month was VACAY, and for the second half, WE’RE LOCKING IN! 🔒

This month, I have 7 days available with 3 time slots each for anyone interested in private game-design sessions. These are NOT my normal two-week courses—just individual sessions where students can come in, learn, create, and continue building their skills. 💻🎮

🌟 LearnSTEAM is back September 25th!
Our FREE mentorship program returns with music, animation, and coding with Scratch. I’m excited to see everybody again!

🎮 Tomorrow: Gaming at Breakbox!
I’ll be at Breakbox bringing games and prizes for the students I meet there, along with some of my returning students. We’re also getting everyone ready to dive into game design over the next five months!

🏙️ Every Tuesday, I’ll also be downtown at a new location connecting with more parents, introducing more families to game design, and continuing to expand what FighterZ Academy is doing in the community.

One amazing summer camp.

If you look really closely at the screen, you’ll see a younger version of me talking about LearnSTEAM.

The funny part? I didn’t even want to learn coding at first. My mom received a scholarship and signed my brother up for coding classes. Since he was nervous about going by himself, I had to go too.

Fast forward to today, and coding changed my life.

That experience taught me something I’ll never forget: mentors matter. The people who pour into us help shape who we become. That’s why I don’t believe there’s such a thing as a “bad kid.” Every child has potential—they just need guidance, patience, and people willing to invest in them.

Seeing my students this summer create their own games, build websites, explore AI, design characters, and grow in confidence has been an incredible blessing.

Congratulations to every one of my students. No matter what you created this summer, you’re officially part of the FighterZ Fam for life. Keep creating, keep learning, and keep believing in yourselves. I’m proud of every single one of you.

The last couple of weeks at the Jack Kelley African American Museum have been absolutely amazing! I’ve had the opportunity to teach kids all about bees, and it’s been such an incredible experience.

Who would’ve thought you could teach game design, digital art, coding, and creativity through bees? We’ve learned that bees have five eyes, discovered fascinating facts about their lives, and explored why they’re so important to our world.

Growing up, I was always afraid of getting stung by a bee. Believe it or not, I’ve never actually been stung! But after spending these past weeks in this program, my perspective has completely changed—and I know the students’ perspectives have too.

As we wrap up this final week of our July summer camp, I’m grateful for every smile, every question, and every “wow” moment we’ve shared together.

A huge thank you to Kingsburg# Honey for giving us the unforgettable opportunity to become beekeepers for a day. And an even bigger thank you to the Jack Kelley African American Museum for allowing me to be part of such an amazing summer program. Since February, I’ve had the privilege of teaching at BreakBox, and it has truly been an incredible experience. I’ve had an amazing time working with my students, watching them grow, create, and discover new skills.

The Power to the Pen event was especially meaningful because it was my first time being one of the presenters. It was an honor to be part of such an inspiring event and to connect with so many talented young people.

I’m already looking forward to next year’s event, where I hope to do even more with the kids and continue inspiring the next generation through creativity, technology, and mentorship.

Just wrapped up an awesome week in Firebaugh! 🎮💻

I had an incredible time working with these amazing students. I absolutely love teaching game design and software development the way I teach it. Watching the students’ faces light up as they learn is one of the best parts of what I do. It turns coding into something exciting, creative, and fun.

The best part? Every student got to take home a game they created themselves! I’m so proud of each and every one of you. Keep creating, keep coding, and never stop learning.

Happy Thursday, FighterZ Fam! 🎮💙

July is flying by! My birthday is on July 24th, and here’s what’s coming up for the rest of the month.

We just wrapped up our programs with Firebaugh and Carden, and tomorrow we’ll finish up our Fresno program. FighterZ Academy classes begin next week with sessions running July 13th–17th and July 20th–24th.

I’m also excited to be helping teach the Bee Resilient Pollinator Camp in partnership with the Jack Kelley African American Art Museum. Then, on July 25th, I’ll be vending, bringing games, and joining in on the fun at the Rooted Rising event!

Be sure to stop by BreakBox TC on July 28th for their Community Healing Day—a free event for the community. Then, come see us at Wednesday on the West on July 29th, Fresno’s Black Wall Street West Vendor Market, where we’ll be out supporting the community and connecting with everyone.

Since it’s my birthday month, my schedule may fluctuate a little, but I’m looking forward to everything that’s ahead.
