The Loneliest Window
2025

The Loneliest Window explores emotional fragility and perception through invisible natural forces.

Each piece responds gently to the presence of wind.
Among them, the small wind book is a quiet record, made like a diary, woven with traces of wind’s passage: its speed, direction, temperature, and date. It stores the beginnings of inspiration and became the seed from which the larger installation grew.

The larger acrylic piece embodies the spirit of the one who once made the small book. Within its square frame, it stands like a window, lonely yet present, moving with the wind.

It offers silent company to those who pass. taken in RCA White City by @figo.hongfeichen

“The Loneliest Window, Book ”

I did not write these pages — the wind did.
It creased the film, bent the corners, whispered its weight into every fold.
Each page carries the memory of a breath that passed by,
the quiet proof that something invisible once touched this world.

This is my way of listening.
Of translating the sky.
Of archiving emotions the wind knew before I did. by @figo.hongfeichen

“Pillow Shelter”

stress, silence, the longing to rest.

I made this space for lying down,
for hugging the book,
and for falling asleep.

For the things you never said out loud.
I hope this project can understand
a little of what you’ve kept quietly inside.

Especially for adults.

The Grave of Thought

Since this postcard was being sent into the future, it definitely had to be made of corrosion-resistant, strong metal. So I took a page from Voyager Golden Records and made this postcard out of a piece of metal, on which I engraved the totem of mankind becoming the carrier of AI. Also, since this is an anti-AI postcard, I don’t want it to be opened by robots or AI in the future. So on the front of the postcard is the classic ‘prove you’re human’ verification window.
After opening the postcard, you can scan the QR code on the back and see the warning from me via AR. by @figo.hongfeichen

The first record of the wind, and also the first page of this book.

“Today is 12.7 and it's super windy in London, even when I close my windows I can still hear the wind beating against my windows.
I feel a deep uneasiness.
I couldn't sleep.
I felt that the strong double glazing might not be able to withstand such strong winds.
I could hear the window creaking.
But I really wanted to sleep, even if the window might break and my room might become a mess while I slept.
Because I couldn't do anything, I can't make the wind stop. If the window is going to break, I can't stop it from breaking.
All I can do is adapt and put myself to sleep. But I can't even do that.”

This is the sentences I wrote down at that windy night. It’s also the start I want to do this work. I feel I’m the same with the window. I want to use window to record the wind and also record myself, everyday. by @figo.hongfeichen

At present, human beings seem to maintain various enslaving relationships with other animals, and I use the horseshoe crab as a representative to explore how human beings should view animals.Based on the contribution of horseshoe crabs to human development, I have constructed a device for human civilisation to communicate with horseshoe crab civilisation, so that more people can think about the relationship between humans and animals. by @figo.hongfeichen

Where Forgetting and Memory Converge（sculpture）
Through documenting and passing down my grandfather‘s grass weaving craftsmanship, this project aims to explore the role of traditional handicraft in contemporary society in fostering emotional connections. Based on the grass weaving art of traditional Chinese culture, I will delve deeply into the connections between memory and forgetting, as well as death and inheritance. Simultaneously, in the practice of daily life, I will explore abstract relationships and object narratives, creating a multidimensional narrative space through a comprehensive approach rooted in objects and materiality, thus exploring the creativity and potential of grass weaving art. by @figo.hongfeichen
