It‘s been a week since the event wrapped, and I’m still sunburned from Open Sauce ☀️ (raise your hand if you got burned too 🥹)

This was xTool‘s first time at Open Sauce. It was also the first time our team took full ownership of planning it — working side by side with our local colleagues to bring it to life. Huge thank you to our featured creators for bringing your projects on-site and building this experience with us. And a massive thank you to the Open Sauce team for the weekly syncs and constant support that made our ideas actually happen.

We didn’t want to build a booth. We wanted to build a corridor through the eras: rooms you could walk through, where the same machines — laser, printing, metal fabrication — each built a completely different world. Memphis-era color, street-art energy, the heavy-industrial age. Same tools. Different eras. All of it yours to claim — that‘s Make Every Era Yours.

Big vision. Real-world limits. Not enough resources. So yes, there are parts that didn’t land the way we dreamed, and things I still think about with a little regret. But that‘s exactly why we’ll come back better next year. 💪

But the thing I underestimated was how much the in-person part matters. Watching creators actually get hands-on with the machines, and seeing where their heads went right after — you can‘t get that from a screen. One of you emailed me sketches of a project idea after the show. That made my whole week.

Some moments I‘ll keep for a long time: gifting Colin a custom tee, making Kevin a tiny miniature summer ice cream 🍦, finally getting to talk with Scott face to face, and meeting SO many awesome creators. Can’t wait to create with all of you.

The biggest thing I took home: the good collaborations aren‘t transactional. They’re built on real connection, shared taste, and ideas that keep going after the event ends. That‘s the kind I want to build.
