Pan's Labyrinth is a film that not only leaves you mesmerized right from the very first shot and continues to do so until the last scene, but it's a film that has also been called Guillermo del Toro's magnum opus for a reason. And I cannot agree more at all. With a fantastic story, terrific characters, some seriously amazing atmosphere, a lovely score, great visual effects, and mind blowing prosthetic work that was awe inducing in 2006 and still is today, it's not only a film that has its status as one of the best fantasy films out there very well earned, but with it's huge anti facisism themes completely surrounding it(which has been a huge pattern that del Toro has used), it's a film that has only continued to be more relevant since.

AI can never do a film like it, and knowing how much del Toro himself has been against it, it really makes it that much more meaningful. I could not have been more happier to see it on the big screen. It is just a masterpiece!

Verity is just a very clumsy film from beginning to end, and while it is not badly shot and Hartnett and especially Hathaway do the best they can with the materials they have, a very bad script, dreadful pacing, lots of twists that make no sense, dull and/or unsympathetic characters, and a performance from Johnson who clearly didn't want to be there really makes it drag on and ends up being quite dull in the end.

I was hopeful it wouldn't be bad... ...but honestly, after this, I have had my fill of Hoover film adaptations. Verity really just left me with nothing.

I can see why people would get something out of Digger, even with the divisive reception it got... ...but I'm sorry, in my opinion, it's just an outright BROKEN film, and it is a film that is one word that I would never love to say... ...just purely smug from beginning to end. Not even some fantastic cinematography and visuals and great performances(including a very committed Tom Cruise) can save what is an absolutely terrible script, a set up that makes the film very confusing, absolutely unfunny and dreadful humor, characters who are very unsympathetic and spiteful from top to bottom, a message that it keeps hitting on the head throughout, and a very smug and vain tone that keeps on thinking on how smart and fantastic it is, when it is really anything but.

I don't like films where characters just spend so much time muttering things that have been said by many climate change experts for many years, but also spend so much of it just being spiteful to one another just because. And Digger is such a big example of this. This is easily the most disappointing film of the year in my opinion.

While I will admit that I hadn't heard much about Chris Hansen until it's trailer came out, Primetime really is a fantastic look at not only how disturbing pedophiles can be, but also at how harmful sensalitionalism is in order to simply get attention. And with some tremendous performances(including yet another terrific performance from Robert Pattinson and a wonderful performance from Skyler Gisondo especially), solid pacing, some very striking cinematography, a fantastic score, and a very good sense of dread, it really becomes a powerful watch.

It really has done very well for itself so far at the box office, and deservedly so. Primetime may have not done an accurate look at what Hansen's time running To Catch a Predator was like, but as a film? It's just fantastic.
