Fragments from our last listening session captured by @montesdemary

A big thank you to everyone involved who made this a reality. Internally grateful. To @filth.amsterdam for providing the space and collaborating with us. To the artist who delivered immersive sets, and everyone who showed up and shared the space with us, this wouldn’t have happened without you. A big thank you to @jaishani.a for the delicious nourishing curry.

Till the next one 🐸🌀 by @filth.amsterdam

We often try to measure circularity in waste prevention terms or carbon offset. But our recent Repair night and screening event with @filth.amsterdam @repaircafe.amsterdam reminded us repair is about curiosity, community and a new form of gezelligheid. 🫶☕️🍺

The Bluest Eye — Toni Morrison

“Set in Ohio in the 1940s, The Bluest Eye tells the story of Pecola Breedlove, a young Black girl who longs for blue eyes, believing they would make her beautiful and worthy of love. Through Pecola’s story, Morrison explores beauty, race, identity, family, and the ways in which racist and oppressive ideas can become internalised.” by @filth.amsterdam

afterglow audio invites you to slow down at filth on sunday 4th october - a moment to come together for a listening session nestled beneath rhopalia - a light installation which serves as a reminder for nurture and collective care.

the installation is inspired by the passive movement of jellyfish through water; rhopalia being the sensory structures in jellyfish which perceive light and gravity, helping them to navigate their environment. the installation is a reminder that we are all at certain points bouncing around our own respective environments, trying to find our place. we never know what someone else is going through as they try to figure themselves out, so seeing each other through a lens of forgiveness can only bring us closer. most importantly, also viewing past versions of ourselves with forgiveness, as they were only figuring themselves out too.

our listening space will be complete with a puddle of @studio.mems pillows, each with their own shape and character, so you can nestle in and relax.

friends of afterglow audio will be soundtracking the downtime from 14:00-21:00, with drinks and food available to keep you nourished.
