Currently in North Queensland doing talks and demonstrations for farmers. It’s always interesting going inland to work with farmers and show them along with other experts how drones can help improve their efficiency and greatly reduce the toll on their land. If only CASA would work with them and not against anyone who wants to make things better. by @finalglideaus

I was hired by CRKennedy to do some demonstration flights of the DJI FPV drone recently in Brisbane but unfortunately the first two attempts were cancelled (once by weather and once by MAAA politics). Unfortunately the third attempt falls on a date when I will be out of town for other work so I thought I’d instead give a summary of my thoughts of the system.

Upon thinking of how to best sum it it up I can only go back to my what I said after the first flight. “It’s not crap”. That is the response I think you’ll get from most level headed, non biased FPV pilots. It is more capable than I thought it would be and surprised me with its power, flight abilities and flight time.

With all that said, would I buy one? The answer is no. It’s still under powered for me, less tune-able to get it to fly the way I want, not durable enough for my type of flying and the initial cost of the unit and the cost of spares is excessive compared to my home built rigs along with all the limitations that getting into the DJI ecosystem brings for a hardcore FPV hobbyist.

That’s the thing though. It is not aimed at someone like myself or a hardcore FPV hobbyist. It is aimed at someone who would normally buy a Mavic or maybe already has one and wants more freedom. I can also see some uses for it in the commercial sector.

So in conclusion I see this system selling well, just like the other DJI products have. It’s beginner friendly and aimed at what is easily the biggest market... and it’s not crap. by @finalglideaus

I’ve been too busy moving this week but I hope to try this out this weekend. Let’s see if this DJI FPV quad is any good. Let’s also see if I remember how to fly FPV lol. by @finalglideaus
