My brother, my round, my true friend who rolled with me whether I had no money, no car, beat up shoes and depleting hairline. He was the definition of a true friend. In this age of conditional, transactional friendship, you won’t find someone like him. We lost him on Wednesday, a day I thought would be a normal day. A day which turned my week to 💩. The tears come and go, the pain hurts, but the memories are something that will never fade. Bodene, we will meet again brother. I’m thankful to God that he placed you in my life.

So this morning I began getting ready for our championship game in the @nmaabasketball league. I had another shirt on, looked in my closet and saw this one. Pops passed in 2020. I haven’t worn this shirt since, so decided to throw it on today. My dad loved basketball and it was a bond we both shared. Once I put the shirt on, I got real emotional and kept telling myself “ Bro, shake out of it. Get yourself together”. Couldn’t leave the crib for an extra 5 minutes trying to compose myself. Fast forward to the game, we fought back from being down 15 in the 4th, sending it into OT and winning. Grief is a crazy thing. The slightest things can trigger emotions you thought you healed from. However, God taught me something today. Those emotions are his way of keeping your loved ones with you. Don’t be sad, but rejoice in the memories God blessed you with. The tears aren’t sadness, they are Gods blessings. Blessings because those tears are proof that you loved and were loved. This one was for you Dad!!
