POSTS STORIES REELS

Hi! I’m Suzy Hastedt, the writer of Finding Hallie.

I thought I should probably introduce myself.

By day, I work in biotech. By nights and weekends (and sometimes way too late at night), I write.

One morning, I woke up with this story in my head and couldn’t let it go. The characters felt real, the scenes were already there, and I just started writing. Three months later, I had a screenplay.

What still makes me laugh is that my mom was the only person who proofread it before I submitted it to film festivals. The deadlines were only a few days away, so I just hit submit and hoped for the best.

Looking back, if I had known how big some of those festivals were, I probably would have been too intimidated to enter.

Instead, I’ve gotten to watch God open doors that I never could have planned myself.

This whole thing has felt like a God story from the beginning.

So if you’re here, thank you for following along. I’m learning as I go, asking a lot of questions, celebrating every little milestone, and trusting God with the next step.

If you’d like to read Finding Hallie, the script is linked in my bio. I’d genuinely love to hear what you think.

I’m so excited to see where God takes this story next. 🙌💃 by @findinghalliefilm

Ever wonder what Finding Hallie looks like in my mind?

Here’s a little peek.

Finding Hallie is the story of a young woman whose future seems perfectly planned until one relationship changes the direction of her life. It’s about love, faith, family, second chances, and learning to trust God’s plan over your own.

I’m so glad you’re here. I can’t wait to share more of Hallie’s world with you. #screenwriter #christianfilm #filmfestival #faithbasedfilm #findinghallie by @findinghalliefilm

Meet Hunter.

He’s charming, grounded in his faith, and knows what he believes. But what makes him special is how he lives out those beliefs, especially when it comes to love.

❤️ What do you look for in a man of faith?

Follow along as we bring Finding Hallie from script to screen!

What happens when the life you’ve always dreamed of isn’t the life God has planned for you?

A story of love, ambition, faith, and discovering that sometimes the greatest blessings come when we surrender our own plans.

Last night, Finding Hallie won “Best Unproduced Script” at Faith Fest 2026. God is SO good. 🙌 One year ago, I never would have imagined this journey. But He gave me a story, and I’m just doing my best to shepherd it along. Thank you, Faith Fest for this incredible honor. And, thank you to @hunkstep5 for accepting the award on my behalf. ❤️ by @findinghalliefilm

I truly had the best time ever at CONTENT Film Festival. I’m so grateful for the people God has put in my path. We had such a fun time exploring Capernaum Studios. And then this magical week ended with Finding Hallie winning $5,000 at the BOOST Pitch-a-Thon. God is so good. 🙌 by @findinghalliefilm

I’m still kind of processing how incredibly special this past weekend was.

Finding Hallie was a nominee at the Miracle Makers International Film Festival! It was truly an honor just to be in the same room with so many talented people who have been doing this for years.

And Neal McDonough was there! I mean…what??

One of my favorite moments was meeting Karolyn Grimes, who played Zuzu in It’s a Wonderful Life. Dave and I watched that movie at a theater in Grapevine, the Christmas Capital of Texas (which is actually its official title!), on one of our first dates. Then, all these years later, we got to meet Zuzu while we were at a film festival because of a screenplay I wrote. It was such a sweet, full-circle moment for us.

And please watch @erinelizabethcookofficial ‘s incredible film @theonefeaturefilm coming to theaters in November!

I met so many wonderful people, learned so much, and got to talk about Finding Hallie with people who believe that stories of faith matter. And I got to experience all of it with Dave, who has supported me from the very beginning.

Thank you, @miraclemakersiff, for an experience I will never forget. God is so good. 🙌

I’m honored to even be in the room. Thank you Miracle Makers for such a memorable evening! #findinghallie #faithbasedfilm #filmfestival by @findinghalliefilm

Finding Hallie is officially a Miracle Makers International Film Festival nominee!

When I started writing this story, I had never written a screenplay before. I simply had a story I couldn’t stop thinking about and a feeling that I was supposed to write it.

Now, that story is taking me to Newport Beach!

Finding Hallie is about the plans we make for our lives, the choices that can pull us away from who God created us to be, and the beautiful truth that His plans are so much better than our own.

I’m incredibly grateful to @MiracleMakersIFF for recognizing this story and giving faith-forward filmmakers a place to share their work.

Grateful doesn’t even begin to describe it.

One year ago, I’d never written a screenplay.

Thank you to every festival that took a chance on a first-time writer. Your encouragement has meant more than you know.

Thank you @hardfaithinc @miraclemakersiff @icff.family @panthercityff @pageturnerscreenplays @contentmediaconference screenplay.

Meet Hallie & Hunter.

She had her future planned.

He showed her a different way to see it.

Finding Hallie is a story about love, faith, and discovering that God’s plans can be better than our own.

This is just the beginning.
