A new chapter is brewing, and today with a tad bit of wistfulness I share the very last episode of this season, 14: An Epilogue, a New Chapter ft. Richard ā€œHombreā€ Price.
After getting a surprising message from Lucinda’s former bass player Richard ā€œHombreā€ Price, I traveled to Sarasota Florida to talk about his memories of playing on Car Wheels on a Gravel Road. We watched rare home movies from the 90s of Lucinda and the band. This episode is about what it means to face your fate as an artist and as a person. You can hear a teaser of what is coming next for this project.

First essay everrr! I was honored that @thebluegrasssituation invited me to write this intro to their artist of the month Lucinda Williams, as she celebrates the release of her latest album ā€˜World’s Gone Wrong’. Go to their site to read the full article, here’s a little preview
ā€œAmong the 78 bands performing for thousands of fans at San Francisco’s 25th annual Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, our nation’s foremost Americana festival, in October of 2025, one of the largest audiences had gathered for Lucinda Williams. She took the main stage in the afternoon clad in a leather suit, studs on the hem of her pants. The groove from the band and her lyrics landed with resonant pounding, like the drop of a heavy set of books on a table. After more than 50 years of performing, her sound still hits.
Lucinda Williams grasped brilliance in 1998 with Car Wheels On A Gravel Road, but this was not some isolated incident. She has pursued the craft of album-making expertly for her entire career, and fans flock to her because there is always something more to scratch up. The singularity of her writing rings at a higher frequency today in our shallow digitized world. I see her current position in our culture to be similar to that of poet-songwriter Leonard Cohen in his final chapter. When she sings, we listeners get to grasp at something real, and we crave what Lucinda offers; intimate corporeal love, the palette of Southern backroads alongside broken-down juke joints, honest bewilderment at the state of the world while still loving itā€¦ā€

I’m on my way home after concluding the @findinglucindafilm Lucinda release tour. These last 7 weeks stuffed my brain so full, my head is like one of the turkeys so many are soon to consume. I wanted to share some last memories with you before I go on a hiatus to work on a new album. Plus, I want to share my plans for this project for the future.
Memory 1, Looking for Miller’s Rare Books: One thing that kept me grooving forward through the stress of tour was my desire to find treasures from Lucinda’s life. So I made a point to visit the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Her father Miller spent most of his career teaching poetry there. As I arrived, it was clear I’d found the southern latitude of peak fall leaf peeping. Students were taking group photos in that temporal moment where the reds and yellows tickle under the chin of our ephemeral nostalgia. As I trotted along to the library, I was somewhat embarrassed to realize that since I had a backpack, someone might mistake me for a undergrad student. I’m 33 and take pride in my age, so I tried to avoid eye contact as I kicked leaves from the walking paths. Does this backpack mean I’ve remained in some sort of arrested development? Should I act my age and get a briefcase? Probably not. At the assistance desk, I asked where I could find Miller’s books. The student working hadn’t heard of him. I wasn’t surprised. It is a big school and he’s been gone for decades. The student couldn’t help, so I had to make my own way to the stacks to search. At last, I found the Miller Williams section…
