What kept me going was never the glory. It was the want to build something I wished existed. A place I actually wanted to be in. That drive that kept me.

And the reality check nobody prepares you for is that when you compare your journey to someone else’s you are never comparing the right things.

You are comparing their outside to your inside.

I build communities for a living. And I just got schooled by an 11-year-old. On a 2 hour flight.

She had no labels to protect. No perception to maintain. No interpretation to defend.

Just curiosity. Just openness. Just — her.

We spend so much of our lives inside the walls we built to feel safe. And forget that connection was never supposed to need permission.

Still sitting with this one....

This page is not really for finished thoughts.

It is for things I am still sitting with while building a life and a company. Some of them sound clear only because they took time. Most of them began in confusion, doubt, or delay.

I wanted this space to hold lived experience before neat articulation. Less founder performance. More honest record.

It was not meant as a compliment. It rarely is when they say it to a woman.
For years I heard it as a warning and I softened. Rounded the edges of what I actually thought so the room would stay comfortable. Called it being professional.
Then I started watching what happened to the women who stayed quiet to be liked. In meetings, in their own companies, in rooms they had built. Talked over. Decided for. Thanked, and skipped.
So I kept the opinions. I run a business on them now. Sometimes the room shifts when I speak. I have made my peace with the room shifting.

I’ve been writing and deleting this for days.
On 1st Oct, at midnight, we rode across Mumbai, from Borivali to Marine Drive: furious, gracious and very gulabi. I led the way, but they set the pace.
Part of @whyloitercampaign . Helmets on, hearts on our posters and all of us in pink, horns in rhythm, acceleration roaring on our behalf, in sync so nobody got left behind.

Somewhere on that ride I realised I’d spent most of my life either swallowing this or shouting about it. Never just saying it.

@findingthefounder has always been about the person behind the work. This is a part of her I don’t talk about enough. So this is me saying it. Slowly, from the beginning.

I’m not writing this for the algorithm. I’m writing it for my niece, so the conversations I had to fight for are just regular dinner-table talk for her.

If even one slide made you pause, If it made you uncomfortable, even better. Tell me.

Start the conversation. Make it ordinary. Make it uncomfortable. Keep having it.

This isn’t exaggeration. This is every woman.
Not some women. Not “a few cases.” Every woman you know. Your mother. Your sister. Your best friend. The woman you love.

She has felt that stare. She has flinched at that brake. She has looked away first, every time.

The men doing this are your friends, your colleagues, your brothers, the guy in your group chat. Your silence isn’t neutral. It’s a side.

So ask any woman around you. Ask the one you love. Listen, without defending. Then decide which side you’re on.

My anger is for the system, the society, the policies, the silence around this. But this isn’t only our fight. It’s yours too.

Nobody checks on the founder who’s smiling.
I smile in almost every frame. In some of these the numbers were not adding up. In one of them I had just lost something I don’t talk about here.
For a long time I thought the smile was the mask. The thing I put on so nobody would worry, so the room would stay calm, so I could keep the whole thing standing.
I am not so sure anymore. Some days it is the only real thing I have left by evening. Not armour. Not performance. Just the proof that I am still here doing this.
What am I without my smile. I am still figuring out which parts of it were mine all along.

When you start any business, the first intention is simple: make it successful. Grow it. Open up avenues. Create something that works.But in that process of growing, there are so many decisions you make based on what you are getting versus what you actually want to do. And sometimes, without even realising it, those decisions start taking over. And then one day you realise, this isn’t really the train I wanted to take.

Sometimes everything clicks.And sometimes it doesn’t.

So I genuinely want to know how you guys do this.

Do you change with the situation?
If you don’t, what makes you stick to your ground?
And if you do change, do you have certain conditions for yourself?

Or do you just not overthink it and keep moving?

Someone once told me, “You’re an entrepreneur. You’re your own boss. How cool is that?”

I laughed.

Have you ever seen a 3-year-old feed themselves, learn to walk, figure things out and then just casually decide, “You know what, I’m good. I’ve got this”? 😂

I think that’s what being a founder feels like.

Your mind is somehow working 24/7. Every electron, proton, cell and whatever else is in there is apparently on duty, even when you’re sleeping. 🙈🤭

You’re constantly learning, unlearning, figuring out what to hold on to, what to let go of, and occasionally just trying not to fall while learning to walk again.🌹

Own boss? Sure.
Own responsibility? Absolutely. 😂

Some messages make you stop and pause a little longer. This one did.

I was grateful that my video made someone feel a little less alone. But honestly, after reading it, I was left thinking about my own anxiety and all the things I’ve normalised along the way.

When did reaching the next goal stop being something that motivates us and become the only way we know we’re moving forward?

When did a win have to be big enough to matter before we allowed ourselves to feel good about it?

I think I’ve spent years looking at the destination and quietly dismissing everything that happened in between.

Still unlearning that. Still learning to let a win just be a win.

Maybe the biggest shift in building something isn’t figuring everything out.

Maybe it’s getting comfortable with not having everything figured out.

I’ve realised that the more honestly I can look at where I am, the easier it becomes to decide where I need to go next.

Still learning. Still questioning. Still figuring it out.

And honestly, I think that’s a much healthier place to build from.
