I was given this piano for my 12th birthday.

I was involved in music from a young age and it has been my close companion my entire life.

It started as a country singer as part of the Up N Adam singing group (Bunbury locals remember the days?!). Then I joined the WA Young Guns of Country Music at 12 and toured the state singing all the old classics to regional towns.

As a teenager, I would belt out songs for hours on hot summer nights, microphone and all. And not once did my family tell me to be stop or to turn it down. Can't believe the neighbours didnt either. What a blessing it was to feel truly free to express myself.

My favourite song to sing and play at 14 was Drops of Jupiter. I'd play it over and over until I knew it off by heart.

I enrolled in a certificate in Music at TAFE at 15 and played in bands.

At 16 my beat friend and I wrote an album together and recorded it.

As I continued through life music was a way to express my joy, and also a lifeline when I sat in deep holes of despair.

Life got quite serious, and intense, and I ended up navigating a fair few years of obstacles. But I eventually always found my way out.

And sitting at this very piano has always been the one thing that I truly do for the sheer enjoyment of it. I haven't performed in years (except that one time at a Nannup Music Festival on the busking stage). But it's always been a pure experience to sit and play, and sing.

I'm rather rusty and off pitch, but I enjoyed this nonetheless.

Bonus points if you can guess every song. taken in Bunbury, Western Australia by @findingyourfoundations

I saw this recipe on Supermarket Swap's account and made it the next day!

I needed something for school lunches that:

- was easy to whip up and freeze in batches
- could be made with minimal ingredients
- my kid would bloody devour

Thank you @supermarket.swap for sharing - I had no you could get pastry without the crap in it!

Somewhere along the line I realised I'd built the gratitude muscle.

And I'll continue daily practice to keep this one strong, through every season. taken in Bunbury, Western Australia by @findingyourfoundations

Welcome to the MESSY MIDDLE.

Where I've made low tox swaps....for the most part.

Switching to low tox and natural options is a strong value of mine. I think about this all. the. time.

...struggling with chronic health issues probably contributed to wanting to find natural versions of literally everything.

But also, once you start pulling at the threads....you uncover more, and more on judt how toxic today's world is.

There are things that I cant unsee.

And of course I tend to go alllll in or all out in life.

I want to be a purist when it comes to my values but sweating about EVERY SINGLE DETAIL ALL THE TIME ends up doing more harm than good.

So we make the swaps that work, and we let the rest unfold naturally.

All of these swaps are now just very normal for me.

My teeth feel amazing, I stopped using whitening products (or ANY toxic mouth products really) and I just focused on good oral health.

Ooooo it takes months (years?) To wean yourself off the local supermarket but every swap is progress!

This swap ticks the low tox and go local boxes at the same time 🤌🏻

I haven't bought eggs from a supermarket since I found @skp_farms_

I was on a mission to find pasture raised eggs from a local business. If im making swaps for my health, I'll double down where I can to find it locally!

Its been amazing to watch their eggs literally grow in size as they launch - quality has been incredible from day 1!

They offer deliveries now too to the Bunbury region.

Best swap I have made recently 🫶🏻🥚 taken in Tutunup by @findingyourfoundations

Painting session with April & Rylynn. ❤️

For those who don’t know this is my step daughter and her mumma. We’ve been doing a shoot every 2/3 years since we met in 2019. 🥹 It’s so special to do this for them and it’s always so fun! We are pretty lucky to raise a funny, kind and sweet kiddo. 🥰

Duality presents itself yet again.

Holding deep frustration and helplessness.

While also feeling incredible gratitude for the people placed in my path to steady me along the way.

I had to 1.2x the speed to avoid the music getting cut but stick with me!

Although I still have a fair way to go on the journey through chronic inflammation, pain and honestly just exasperation this year, something in me shifted recently.

I will continue to work through the health challenges and find some resolve - the determination isn't really a choice. Those who know me know that however many times I fall, I will always get back up, and find a damn way to the other side.

And this year I feel like I have fallen daily. I have never faced such debilitating health challenges as those that started and have continued since January.

I have cried more than ever. Crawled into bed not sure if I would be able to get to the gym (the place that keeps me sane) or if I'd be limping around on painful feet that day.

I have googled and talked to AI, seen Western and alternative health practitioners, journalled, prayed and had countless discussions with the girls. And then been held and comforted over and over by a partner who has keep me going through consistency and quiet steadiness. Let's not forget the absolute chaos and joy of a daughter in the mix.

But the thing that shifted was that amidst the non linear journey of healing, an internal flame was lit and I decided that I would pursue my own 'glow up' as we passed the halfway mark this year and I looked at the four months left.

And I decided that I would rise, despite it all.

I decided that I get to experience joy, and happiness and gratitude in the mix too.

And so, two words were placed on my heart this year.

Duality.

Expansion.

More to come. taken in Bunbury, Western Australia by @findingyourfoundations

Spring is finally here and we're back into (learning about) bee keeping.

We got a flow hive last Spring and attended some meetings and training days, and even registered ourselves to get a license.

And then we moved house in the new year and started the school year and didnt quite feel ready for a swarm just yet.

I thought miss 13 would take a moment to get reacquainted but she didnt skip a beat - that kid has no fear when it comes to animals. She got stuck right in - checking hives, adding queens, cleaning wax off the boxes and chatting to the bees.

Thank you to the team at the local training apiary for welcoming us back.

One thing we did do is start growing a garden at our new place so when the time comes we'll be ready 🫶🏻 by @findingyourfoundations

I have grown some form of garden in almost every single home I've lived in.

Whether its herbs in pots of a full backyard plot of veggies, there's always something growing that can be eaten 🫶🏻

This is a rental, so I went for raised garden beds that could be deconstructed in the future.

I've pushed myself to grow more from seeds this time around too - its a hell of a lot cheaper and theres something REALLY satisfying about raising plants from baby seeds 😍

The more I can grow myself, particularly from the Dirty Dozen list, the better. An orchard in pots is on the cards...

For reference:

The 2026 Dirty Dozen List

Spinach
Kale, collard, and mustard greens
Strawberries
Grapes
Peaches
Nectarines
Cherries
Apples
Blackberries
Pears
Potatoes
Blueberries

A blueberry bush might be next on the list! taken in Bunbury, Western Australia by @findingyourfoundations

These are not getting any shorter, I have too much to say 🤣

But putting it out there - we are wildly multi faceted individuals.

Some days I'm soft and slow and nurturing.

Others I'm ready to tackle that mountain and SEND IT.

I also have non 'low tox' practices I've kept in the mix as I've navigated making countless swaps for natural options.

Duality...that is the word I come back to.

That stark but eventually beautiful contrast of knowing and not knowing. Of being all over it and not having a clue. Nailing one thing and making a mess of another.

I have been on a QUEST.

How many swaps can I make from big biz to local?

Because there is a fire in my belly to buy local, support local, keep the circle going. If you have a small business, you'll truly know how much it means to be supported by the community around you.

I also think there's something really important that happens when you choose from people in your location...you connect. Often in person. And for me that's a piece that got lost as I became an adult in the era of online shopping and mega corporations.

@skp_farms_ popped up on my feed and I looked at their profile straight away. Finally there are some pasture raised hens close by!

I patiently waited for their eggs to become available. They've been preparing their hens for laying and these are some of the first eggs on offer.

And it turns out these guys are from my local gym @crossfitbunbury , too 🤌🏻

So I found my eggs, and made a connection too.

Onward 🏞
