What a joy to create a one-of-a-kind art piece-collage in honor of Dr. Cheryl Lee’s retirement. This dentist has done so much for others & the @brooklandcivic wanted to show its gratitude. A Goodwill-found mat/frame was paired with cards from my Mom Barb along with clippings for old magazines and calendars highlighting Dr. Cheryl Lee’s service to the Greater Brookland community & beyond. The sleeves on this jacket started with a blanket I picked up at my last @dcgoodwill meetup—and it was sitting on the curated rack by @cinema_hearts. I saw the colors and immediately knew it deserved a second life.

So I chopped, stitched, pieced, and turned that blanket into sleeves for a classic denim jacket. Because apparently I can’t look at a perfectly good blanket without wondering, “But what if this were a jacket?” 😂

One-of-a-kind. Upcycled. A little funky. A LOT of personality.

This is what happens when thrift finds meet a sewing machine. ♻️✨
