The end of a beautiful 31-year chapter, and the celebration of an incredible journey.

From studying Graphics at Santiniketan to completing his Masters here, and dedicating over three decades to nurturing generations of artists, Shri Indrapramit Roy has been the heart of the Painting department. A teacher, mentor, guide, and guru in the truest sense—he always brought everyone together and created a true sense of safety for his students.

His infectious enthusiasm, unique pedagogical methods, and participatory endeavours have enriched our lives in ways words cannot fully capture.

It was beautiful to see his mentors, peers, colleagues, and students—alongside eminent personalities like Nilima Sheikh, Ratan Parimoo, and Gulammohammed Sheikh—come together to celebrate his legacy.

This grand farewell wouldn't have been possible without the leadership of our Dean, the tireless efforts of the students from the Painting department, and the immense support from all the teachers of the Faculty.

Thank you, Sir, for everything. The department won't be the same without your presence, but your impact remains forever. Wishing you the absolute best as you step into this next phase of life.

Painting Department Field Trip | Art, History & Heritage

A five-day journey through the artistic and architectural treasures of Karnataka, exploring Badami, Pattadakal, Itagi, Hampi, and nearby historical sites.

From Badami’s magnificent rock-cut sculptures to Pattadakal’s synthesis of Nagara and Dravida architectural styles, from Itagi’s intricate Western Chalukya craftsmanship to Hampi’s monumental Vijayanagara heritage, every site offers a unique visual narrative.

Through observation, sketching, and documentation, we explore the interplay of form, line, texture, rhythm, symbolism, and space, connecting historical artistic traditions with contemporary creative practice.
