I am stoked to announce that our short film scripted, production designed, produced, filmed and edited in 48 hours for @take48_ took home 3rd Place at the 20th annual @sydneyundergroundfilmfest ! A huge thank you to Chris and the judges Andrew Peirce, Chris & Susie Shapones and Matthew Eeles for believing in our film and championing it. The screening this year had the best quality I’ve seen in 7 years of doing this competition. It was super funny to accept several awards on behalf of @jamesdudfield_dp and his team and then to get the shock news of coming 3rd!…Now that I’ve finally caught my breath after watching 15 feature films at SUFF…A MASSIVE thanks to my crew and PUPPET PEOPLE FAMILY for coming along this journey. Earlier this year, we co-hosted our mostly unprecedented event Flopfest that was a total Hitfest! We remember when Martin dropped the idea of having a private screening of everyone’s 7 minute Tropfest shorts that quietly escalated to a much bigger and brighter vision thanks to Katie and Joshua. Couldn’t have had a more exciting evening closely shared with buddying filmmakers of Sydney that all had their time to shine in front of their close friends and peers.

Thanks to the filmmakers who submitted their shorts, award winners, vendors, photographers, catering team, venue and our loving friends & family for coming along!

Striving bigger for next year.

I am thrilled to announce that our short film we scripted, filmed, produced, production designed, puppeteered and edited in 48 hours, ‘PUPPET PEOPLE’ is a finalist @take48_ as part of the 20th @sydneyundergroundfilmfest ! After SEVEN years of competing in this contest it is a huge honour to be in the top 20 films of the night out of 70 films made by 400 filmmakers! Without spoiling the film here are some BTS photos from the amazing Nadia Qureashi @n4d.i8 of some of the fine folks that made it possible.

I am over the moon to announce our feature documentary @eyesthatlistenearsthatsee has been selected for the 7th annual @antennafestival Rough cut lab! Over two days myself and 3 other teams of filmmakers will be lucky enough to be mentored by Kirsten Johnson (Cameraperson, Fahrenheit 9/11, Dick Johnson is Dead), Simon Price (In My Blood It Runs) and Jenny Raskin from Impact Partners. The rough cut lab is designed to pair local filmmakers with industry mentors around the world, supporting them in refining their films and completing them with clarity and confidence, while identifying new paths to global audiences. The initiative is supported by @screenaustralia and @screennsw. I am excited to get the film to this stage along with the help of some great and talented individuals. Can’t wait to receive feedback and gather more perspectives. Thank you to @filmink for sharing the news! by @finesilvermedia

What a wonderful experience screening ‘Lilith Goes Galactic’ at the coolest festival around @revfilmfest at the @thebacklotperth ! Big thanks to Richard Sowada @richard_sowada , Jack Sargeant @jacksargeant23 , Toni Clancy @tonitonezclancy for having me! Congratulations to all the other filmmakers ! It was very meaningful to screen my short film at the same festival where I screened my debut feature documentary. Thank you to @antzpantz_ for the photos ! Over the weekend I was there I watched 11 feature films and many, many shorts that blew me away and even filmed an interview with an amazing filmmaker too! I am thrilled to announce that our short film ‘Lilith Goes Galactic’ was awarded ‘Best Short Director - Australia’ at @mdffest ! It was a huge honour to screen on opening night in Melbourne at @cinemanova ! There were some wonderful films this year at the festival so it is humbling to receive this recognition. Huge thanks to the judging team of Juanita Anderson, Alison Ficklin, Annie McClauchlan and Veronica Dvorackova that believed in our film. This image is from a deleted scene of the movie where I showed Lilith one of the last surviving artworks painted by my Uncle which tragically burned in a house fire after he had died…it was this moment off screen which led to the poetic finale of the film. Thank you to the team at @laselvacoop for the opportunity and my fellow soldier of cinema @caleb.hatton who was my brother in arms when we went to war making the film for Señor Herzog in only a few mad days where we were meant to “go wild”!Muchas gracias Lilith por la colaboración! @evalilith.art @lilith.physic ! Thanks to the house photographer for the festival for the photos of me posing under the neon lights with the banner of the festival 💜 ! Huge thanks to @mdffest for having us as part of the ‘Opening Night Shorts’ of the festival AND for the news that we are a finalist nominated for ‘Best Australian Short Director’! It was stellar to see our session sell out at the coolest cinemas around @cinemanova ! It was wonderful to screen alongside my fellow filmmakers and meet @guywilkinsonfilms @quachdavid @fredthinksart and @mitch.nielsen221 ! Thank you to the best hype squad a cinemagirlie could ask for @katiemareemoon @strobe.jobe and @dopaminecreative_ _ ! Happy to announce the film I directed under the mentorship of Werner Herzog and Peter Zeitlinger in the Canary Islands ‘Lilith Goes Galactic’ will be having its Victorian Premiere at Melbourne Documentary Film Festival @mdffest ! ‘Lilith goes Galactic’ will have the great honour of playing on opening night of the festival on the 7th July 2026 at the beautiful @cinemanova. I’ll be doing a lil introduction to the film on the night so would love to see any of my Melbourne compadres there to celebrate! It is a full circle moment for me having screened my debut feature documentary about people striving to be the worlds best at their passions a few years back at the same cinema and festival @theworldsbestfilm !
