In a world of white coats and quiet prayers, sometimes healing begins with presence, not prescriptions.

Stepping into the role of a doctor for this special editorial; “Hero, Father, Friend” by @carlosidun , was more than acting. It was an emotional reminder of the silent heroes we often overlook. The ones who kneel beside the bed, hold trembling hands, and carry the weight of hope on tired shoulders.

In this frame, I am not just a physician. I am a protector. A comforter. A friend. A father figure in moments where fear threatens to steal strength.

This shoot reminded me that heroism isn’t always loud. Sometimes, it’s the quiet reassurance of a heartbeat on a stethoscope, a chart scribbled with care, or a steady hand injecting courage through every syringe.

"Hero, Father, Friend" - 2024

This fictional photo series doubles as a celebration of Black Fatherhood and Sonship, and a biopic of my late Dad.
With this body of work, I confront erasure by recreating lost memories of Fatherhood within the archives.
It continues my life's work of building a poignant archive of faith, hope and love - highlighting the joy of the community and the beauty in the ordinary.
