Hi, all members of the Finnish American Association and social media followers! We hope this announcement finds you well this lovely summer day! We have big news to share: We have a logo for FAA-TC! It has been a process yet we are excited to share you a logo designed by Saara Vihavainen at Helia Studios. Saara designed the logo using design ideas and comments submitted by you, the members! We look forward to continuing building our organization with each of you. This unique, made for us, logo is just another step in making our mark on our local community and beyond while living out FAA’s mission: We seek to elevate the visibility of contemporary Finland and celebrate our Finnish culture, heritage, and life in Minnesota. We hope this note finds you well on this cozy autumn day! 🍁 Every now and then there is a call for volunteers. Many of you gladly accept and step in when the need calls. Today, we come before you, the FAA members, seeking a hospitality team consisting of a couple of willing and excited co-leads along with a team to help hospitality to run smoothly at our monthly programs and other events. Beyond interesting and engaging topics, our gatherings always include a time of meaningful connection and community over coffee and snacks. This is a team effort, yet if you love all things hosting and planning, this just may be the area you have been looking to get involved in. Maybe you prefer preparing foods or baking goodies; join the hospitality team! Like working behind the scenes setting up or decorating? Maybe generosity is your gifting and you would like to donate towards a coffee plus snacks budget? We would LOVE for you to join this much-needed team. Let us know what your gifting is and in what capacity you would like to serve on the hospitality team, helping further FAA’s vision: “We seek to elevate the visibility of contemporary Finland and celebrate our Finnish culture, heritage, and life in Minnesota”. We hope to hear from you soon! The first opportunity to get involved in this capacity will be October 16th, when we will host a screening of Finland, MN, a documentary by filmmakers William “Ville” Besonen and Isaac “Arvo” Hanson. Have an awesome rest of the week! In August, on a lovely Minnesota summer evening , we had a wonderful get together celebrating the completion of our merger. Some of the sizable “cast and crew” who participated in the “birthing and growing” of our new organization. We missed all of you who were unable to join us. Each person shared about their connections to and with Finland. Lively conversations over tasty food allowed a time for community. Urho and Pam shared about FACAs history while also sharing several important documents they have archived and kept. The history of FFTC was also shared, Mirja stood in for Betsey in conveying that information. FAA is a brand new Finnish American organization yet it was birthed out of the work and involvement of the members of two excellent organizations. Here’s to a new day! 🇫🇮💙 by @finns_in_mn
