‘The West End’
Acrylic and Spray paint on 30x24 canvas.

This was the last piece I made in the spring of 2024. Often the process works out that with some consistency I discover interesting concepts and techniques which then culminates into one piece that I really like. Such is this piece. Another messy one with some haphazard stencils and spray paint that is part landscape and part abstraction. I love that the blue really captures a bright summer day in the Santa Monica’s mountains. by @finomolfino

‘Sunny Night’
Oil pastels on 3ftx3ft paper and cardboard
Created by the 2023 1st and 2nd grade @sycamore_malibu class.

This was a fun process! We took Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’ and asked an AI image generator to add a sunrise. We then chopped up the resulting image into 25 quadrants and assigned each student to a few sections. Students then used those images to inspire their own pastel creations and we put it all together to create this beautiful final landscape the students dubbed Sunny Night. by @finomolfino

“Silver Skies”
Acrylic, spray paint, and oil pastels on 16x12 paint board.
Painted April 2024

A painting made up of a lot of happy accidents. The subtle poppies are my favorite part. by @finomolfino

'Roses for Ma'
Acrylic and paint markers on 20x16 canvas
Painted in May for Mother's day

I wish I had gotten better process photos for this one but the second photo was the inspiration and you can see some of the process in the third photo. Believe it or not the roses were made with crumpled paper towels! The foreground is not my best work but I think the pink paint marker really ties it together. by @finomolfino

“Forecast”
Acrylic on 30x24 canvas

This one was created through mess. What I enjoy most about it is the tension between the landscape and abstraction - between what is seen and what is imagined. In the end I may have pushed the landscape a bit too hard and could have left it more open ended (the third pic hits it best). by @finomolfino

Created 03/30/24

Another stencil experiment. I might’ve liked it better without the cracks… by @finomolfino

‘Midnight on a Tuesday like any other’
Spray paint and acrylic on a 9x12 paint board.
Made 3/30/24

Used 3D printed stencils for the most part. It was a fun way to construct the composition. I like that it’s creepy.

Book recommendation: The Midnight Library. Relatable, accessible, sorta philosophical sci if. Although this painting was made before I read the book. I’m sure in some other universe the book was the inspiration. by @finomolfino

Spectrum - acrylic and oil pastel on a 12x9 canvas board.

Started and mostly finished in June 2023. Recently added some blue oil pastel to the sky to create more contrast with foreground.

‘A Pearlescent Pass’
acrylic gouache on 8”x6” wood board.
Painted July 2023
——-
More experimenting gone right. The foliage came about by just scraping yellow and green paint on the wood board. And I used a purple pearlescent acrylic for the flowers. I really enjoy both effects! by @finomolfino

‘Sky Country’ - acrylic on 12”x9” canvas board

Sometimes when I paint I make it a habit to rub excess paint on a random canvas. And sometimes happy little accidents appear that inspire new ideas. Such was the case with this one! taken in Topanga, California by @finomolfino
