No one’s really talking about it, but the interiors market is quieter right now. The housing market is slower, less people are moving and there’s less construction projects happening.

If business feels a little quieter right now, this is not the time to slow down your marketing.

It’s the time to become MORE visible.

When there are fewer people actively looking to hire, you need to make sure that when they are ready to choose, your business is one of the ones they remember.

Disappearing until the market picks up only makes it harder to rebuild that visibility later.

So what can you do on Instagram right now?

1. Show up consistently
You don’t need to post every day, but you do need to keep appearing in your ideal client’s feed. Consistency builds familiarity and familiarity helps you become the obvious choice.

2. Stop only showing the finished work
Share your expertise. Talk about how you work, the decisions you make, problems you solve and what clients should know before starting a project. Give people a reason to trust you, not simply admire your portfolio.

3. Create content for people who don’t follow you yet
Use Reels and highly shareable posts with strong hooks that speak directly to the problems, questions and aspirations of your ideal client. Your existing audience already knows you — growth comes from getting in front of the people who don’t.

A quieter market doesn’t mean nobody is buying.

It means you need to work harder to be one of the businesses they notice, remember and ultimately choose.

As an interior designer your unique gift is your ability to see and imagine spaces like nobody else can.

Your creativity is ingrained in everything you do. I can guarantee that some of your best content ideas will come from the work you’re already doing: things like a conversation with a client, a problem on site, or a design decision you made.

Or even just something you’ve seen on your travels that sparked your imagination.

@wearestudioray posted recently about not sharing their finished projects on Instagram. Unusual - for most designers, yes, to them - 100% authentic in the way they want to share their business and creative journey on Instagram.

And that’s the beauty of it. Instagram can be whatever you want - a diary, a portfolio, a talking heads space where you can teach or tell stories, a curated collection of moments you want to share.

There’s no rule book for what works, and whilst we can analyse patterns, trends to create posts that perform well, it’s often those posts that are a little different that break the barrier to go viral.

It’s ok to use trends but remember that when people are choosing you for your creative vision they might not get to see that buried in content that looks the same as everyone else’s.

Do you think we see too much similar content on Instagram?

Is it time to break the mould?

How do you think we can do it?

“Being a star just means that you find your own special place and that you shine where you are.” Dolly Parton 1946-2026

I was so sad to hear that Dolly Parton has left us. This is a version of a reel I made a while ago. I’ve always admired her. She said so many smart things so simply.

She taught us that we rise by lifting others.

Whilst we all enjoyed her talent as a singer, songwriter and entertainer, she built a business empire and used her wealth to help people in need all around the world.

Still wondering what to post that will actually attract clients?

You don’t need to become an influencer or spend your life making Reels. And you definitely don’t need to jump on every trend Instagram throws at you.

You need to know what to post, why you’re posting it and how that content can help turn someone who discovers your work into someone who will enquire.

That’s exactly what we’ll be working on at my Interior Designer Instagram Blueprint Workshop.

This is a full-day, in-person workshop created specifically for interior designers who want to make Instagram a more effective part of their marketing, without it taking over their week.

We’ll look at your own Instagram account, work out what’s missing and build a much clearer approach to your content.

You’ll learn the posting framework I use when creating content for interior design businesses, how to get more from the photos and videos you already have, and how to use my custom built AI content assistants to make planning and creating your content so much quicker and easier.

This won’t just be a day of sitting and taking notes.

You’ll audit and optimise your account and then actually create content while you’re there, with guidance from me, so you leave knowing exactly how to put what you’ve learned into practice.

You’ll also get access to my custom-built AI marketing tools for interior designers to continue using after the workshop to plan your content for Q4 and beyond.

📍 House of Estila, Clerkenwell, EC1M 5RR
🎟 Only 14 places available

This isn’t just a generic Instagram marketing course, the format and AI tools have been designed specifically from working with interior designers and I’ll be sharing real life examples from businesses just like yours.

If Instagram has been sitting permanently at the bottom of your to-do list, or you’re posting regularly but aren’t convinced it’s actually helping you win work — come and spend the day getting it sorted.

Comment “Blueprint” below and I’ll DM you the details and booking link. by @fiona.mostyn

Hello August!

Here’s a snippet of what I’ve been up to lately.

We’ve been busy working on our client accounts with strong storytelling strategies, beautiful photography and behind the scenes b-roll and images combined with our posting formats to consistently bring in the views and followers.

Next there’s some snippets of client content as this month I’ve helped 2 clients with content shoots and I’m at another shoot on Thursday.

Video is no longer optional on Instagram it’s a must have to perform effectively on the platform.

Finally… it’s been so long since I’ve done this:

I’m hosting an in person workshop at a beautiful showroom in London.

⭐️⭐️⭐️EDIT - The date has changed - now 9th September

———————————

⭐️⭐️Save the date - 10th September⭐️⭐️

If you’re an interior designer or architect who’s been posting consistently and still not seeing results, this is exactly the back to school reset you need to build an effective social media presence for Q4 and beyond.

Imagine never having to worry about what to post on instagram. Having a clear vision of how to get more visibility and connect with the right type of clients.

I’ve posted thousands of pieces of content for multiple clients and I’ll be sharing tried and tested strategies with examples from real accounts and giving you the resources you need to make content creation, planning and posting something you’ll be able to set and forget so you can get on with running your design business.

More details coming soon but watch this space as places are very limited. taken in Brighton and Hove by @fiona.mostyn

And here’s another tip…

When you’re too busy to create new content it’s a great time to reshare some of your most popular previous content.

You’ll have gained new followers who won’t have seen it before. Some of your existing followers might not have seen it the first time around and even if they did, they might appreciate a reminder.

So if you’re new here or you missed these the last time around here’s 3 tips to make your improve your instagram marketing, tap on the reel to discover:

✨A tip to halve your time on Instagram

✨A tip to get more views on your posts

✨A tip to get your Instagram seen on Google

What have I been up to lately?

Scroll along and see…

I visited WOWHouse, where it was great to see one of my clients work in real life, rather than the usual scrolling through hundreds of images as I do every day.

My favourite room was the cinema room. Not necessarily because of how it looked, but because of the way it made me feel, an immediate exhale. This job takes its toll on my ability to focus on long form content, books and films are harder for me now. But here, I actually felt I could enjoy a movie.

The design truly worked.

What was your favourite room?

Quite a few of you booked in for a free mini audit after I posted about getting one of my clients 1.2 million views in a month to find out how I can help your accounts.

A mini audit is a free fun 30 minutes where we review your account.

And I tell you what you need to do to get more visibility and meet your goals in getting more business from Instagram.

Stop thinking about what’s going to make a difference and invest in a plan that will, if you’re ready to do that, I’m here to help. If that isn’t now then save this for later.

Comment “hello” to get the link to book, send me a DM for a chat or use the link in bio 😁

We’ve had some great results recently, one of our newest accounts with around 500 followers, had their second reel with more than 100,000 views this month.

A strong storytelling strategy, beautiful photography behind the scenes, b-roll and images combined with our posting strategy. has been consistently bringing in the views and followers

And just in case you were wondering, that reel now has over 8,000 likes!

I’ve been filming lots of behind the scenes, and B-roll content for clients lately.

Don’t post your work, post yourself working, really does work!

I’ve another shoot booked in later this month and if this is something that you need help with, do you get in touch.

I had an afternoon in London and I visited House of Estila. A beautiful showroom in Clerkenwell filled with sustainable UK brands.

Karolina has invited me to host an event there in September, which I’m currently planning, watch this space for more information.

I also attended a Houzz UK networking event o by @fiona.mostyn
