The NY Knicks deserve their own post cause wow. Hell of a ‘26 season. All of the stress was worth it. All of the hours of post game analysis was worth it. All of the wins off the scoreboard, small and big, were worth it. I love the greatest team in the world and they’re finally recognized for it. This may not be a loquacious post but it’s my joy and I feel it so deeply.

A pet’s love is pure and devoted. That’s what makes it so painful when they die.

Roxie, the overworked/underpaid biscuit maker from the streets of Brooklyn, dropped into our laps in April 2022 and ever since then she impacted me and my mom in the most profound way. She started off so scared having a roof over her head but begged for physical touch and slowly built trust with us over two years. She became more and more of the cat that she could be because she didn’t have to survive in the wild of NY and just got to be herself. Kobe really brought her out of her shell and what we will remember is the little girl that wore her heart on her paw, ran like a bunny, LOVED food (because food is love), chased bouncy balls to no end, greeted us every time we came in the door, meowed down the halls looking for her people, cuddled up on typing keyboard fingers, was constantly down to sprawl out for full belly/body rubs and brushes, and was always there for us.

Roxie died in the ER this weekend from an unknown ailment and possible defect. She was 4 years old. Grief is the craziest thing - it consumes the body and grips the soul. It fogs the mind and makes the body lose control. It’s pain that a broken arm could never match. Grief is shared by everyone for any number of reasons but losing a pet is indescribable. Pets are family. Roxie was THAT girl.

I’m going to miss her forever.

To anyone with a fur child, PLEASE hug them and give them a scratch today. Life is short and these moments with our children are so precious. by @fionakleslie
